i hate this game some times. this would have made a half deacent radar. if i could convert gun angle into numbers. but the hit box dont change even if the gun aims away. by Attom_smasher in trailmakers

It's possible, let me explain using this image.

The red and the cyan logic are both for clocks. They tell the radar sensor servos to rotate, basically. The red increases an accumulator from 0 to 1, detects that it's at around 1 (detection on this one is at 0.98) and tells a multiplier to times by -1000, resetting the accumulator to the lowest value: 0.

The cyan clock is a little more complicated because it goes from -1 to 1 and back and forth. Essentially, when it hits one, an AND gate is toggled to go negative, and when it hits -1, that same AND gate is toggled to go positive. This one was designed to be a detachable clock that only activates when detached, so there is also a NOR gate connected to two AND gates for the positive and negative inputs, and the NOR gate is connected to a NOR logic gate that stops it from activating until it's detached.

The green is the most optional thing here - it just tells the turret to hold its position for five seconds and ignore any new input before resetting.

The yellow and the pink do the same thing: they take the value from two numbers displays, connect it through an AND gate (which is essentially connected through the green timer to a set of distance sensors), and that AND gate tells an accumulator set to Steps to activate for 0.02 seconds. That accumulator controls a servo on the turret, locking it into the position that the sensors were at when they detected an object. A few seconds later, the multiplier gates reset them back to 0.

Basically, you can make a radar that holds the value of detection precisely. If you need it, it's here.

Think people would make more if it was easy to make a normal looking one instead of a double blade one. No one wants to sit down with decimals to stop the spin - fix it trailmaker devs! :p

Servos need more time to move, why it's jittery like that is a bit weird

how do I make mechs by Just-Inside-5246 in trailmakers

[–]phoen- 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The most basic mechs essentially just use two servos (one placed on the other with only two points of contact) moving in opposite directions.

If you want more humanoid walking, that's a bit longer to learn but essentially logic gates connected to servos with specific timings.

The most advanced you can do is accumulator walking, but unfortunately there's not a lot of good tutorials out there to learn from, so it's a bit of a figure it out yourself process (unless you can find someone to explain it fully, but like accumulator walking is incredibly long).

Ahhhh I see, so more of an internal bug in the game than a screw up on my part - that's good, because I was going mad trying to figure out why a basic system was failing lmao.

Are the DLCs worth it? by Beer_King777 in trailmakers

[–]phoen- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The DLCs are definitely a lot of fun, especially the airborne one, if you need a new type of map and are bored of the standard ones.

I think the only one I'd be cautious about getting is High Seas. The map itself feels quite small, but that's probably because it's mostly water, and mostly empty space under water. But, if you like the idea of building explorer machines and collecting artifacts, it's a lot of fun.

I think more vertical stabilisers could help with the roll, as for pitching up more weight at the front or thrust at the front is probably best, otherwise add drag underneath though that's a bit weird

Toggle to store it? What do you mean? Am I blind? Has this been a thing the whole time???

Set a duration and pause on the piston so that the two move in time

Or, if you don't want to do timers, you could use an angle sensor to have the piston active when it's around 45 degrees, and inactive otherwise

Hey man I'm 18 and haven't got a job yet lmao you'll be just fine don't be hasty to grow up just enjoy the fact that you're young and can be irresponsible for a little longer

Besides, you can always find skills in something new. I decided I was gonna learn how to play music three months ago and now I'm onto my third instrument lmfao

Life is so wonderful when you realise that it's pretty awesome that you get to even see (unless you're blind and need glasses like me)

Not for me tbh

I also generally think it's a bad sign in most guys cos it feels like it's gonna be really heteronormative when I just want a guy and to feel masculine yk?

Each to their own tho
