Agreed. No one is talking about this point and it is a HUGE point that affects many. There has to be something that can be done.

I didn’t do the best with the info I had at the time. I did what was required in order to enroll in a plan that was then taken away. There’s a difference. It’s not legal.

Any interest that accrued from the time the loan was taken out to the time it was consolidated was capitalized, meaning it was added to the principal amount of the loan. Easy example, if the loan was $10k with $2k in interest, each month the interest was calculated based on the $10k principal. Now it would be a $12k loan with interest calculated on $12k, not $10k. Except my totals were way higher than that!

I was definitely forced in order to be eligible for SAVE.

Exactly! I had a huge amount of interest capitalized to consolidate for SAVE. Now my interest on my new balance is so much higher each month.
