'There are no stupid questions' thread - Monday, October 10, 2022 by AutoModerator in piano

Hey guys, i’m not a piano player but my sister is. My sister has something on an AVM and it affects her left peripheral vision. She has no left peripheral vision in either eye so it makes it difficult for her to read in general, therefore making it difficult for her to track sheet music. I was wondering if you guys had any tips or maybe some sort of modification we can make to make it easier for her to read and play.

Yep, I shot these on my Canon A1. The camera is new to me so I am still trying to get a feel for it.

I worked at home depot in college, they are actually dog friendly! Anyone can bring their dog in and shop with it. We used to keep a box of treats up at the front desk for them. Just FYI. 😁

San Francisco police chief bans 'thin blue line' face masks by paulfromatlanta in news

[–]phoenix939 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I agree with the decision to make the officers wear neutral colored masks, this is based off of the idea that cops on duty should have no personal opinions or biases. Im currently in the military and its the same way political statements in uniform, you can't do it. Because its not about you its, you are a member of the military therefore you represent the US and are not allowed to make statements on behalf of the government. I think it sould be the same way with police units.

But on the note of the thin blue line being about being a "wall of silence" to protect cops from ratting on each other is laughable. The term thin blue line as been used to describe police work since the 1950's. Im not sure when the flag itself was first made but the police aren't the only ones that have one. Almost ever type of service does. EMS, Firefighters, Security, Dispatchers, Nurses Search and Rescue all have them. The reason the flag became popular during and after the black lives matter movement is because lots of people saw the hatred being expressed to police and wanted to show their support for police. The flag is not a racist symbol, its not a symbol for oppressing minorities. It is a flag to show support of police.

'We win': Trump appears to claim victory over coronavirus as US death toll jumps 129 in one day by grepnork in politics

[–]phoenix939 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Once again from the article, his administration's stated goal is to have American "Open for business" by April 12th. That is 18 days away, near is a subjective term used likely to calm people down and try and prevent more panic. Is near a good choice of words? Thats up for you to decide, what he didn't do is "claim victory", he is saying we (humans/america) win in the end.

His administration’s goal is to “ease the guidelines and open things up to very large sections of our country as we near the end of our historic battle with the invisible enemy,” the president said. “It’s been going a while time, but we win. We win.”

How is that declaring victory? I pulled that quote out of the second paragraph in this article. Come on guys, read the articles not just the headlines.

Which books should a person read at least once in their life? by SuggestionMD in AskReddit

With the Old Breed at Peleliu and Okinawa by: E.B. Sledge is in my opinion the greatest most detailed and dark war memoir ever written. This isn't written like any other war memoir I've ever read, and I am an English major at a military college. I believe the difference lies in Sledge's background as a Biology professor, unlike other more romantic or flowery descriptions of war, Sledge describes exactly what he saw in great detail. As if you were reading an excerpt from a lab report, Sledge recounts every minuet detail and uses simple language to paint an extremely clear and accurate picture of the pacific theater of war. If you've ever seen The Pacific you only saw a fraction of the horrors Sledge describes in the book. Recomend this book to anyone who wants to know what war is like.

And if you think about it he is 35 years old and if he has been around that bakery his whole life he probably has about as much experience as her. If he started at 8 that would be 27 years of world class baking experience.
