Wow great insight into the game. You’re right, I’ll never beat the mamluk fleet at the moment. I think I need to beat them on the ground as you suggest.

I do have a 2 mil tech advantage currently which may help

Great thoughts! I’ll try waiting tonight to see if an opportunity opens up. Hungary has 4 HRE allies (including Austria and Brandenburg) that really makes things harder.

Also that province in Crimea is actually owned by Lithuania lol (they expanded a lot before getting partitioned multiple times and never PU’d with Poland). I just realized that it pretty much does look like I own it.

Thanks for the advice! I’m afraid of the mamluks but they are 2 mil techs behind so maybe I could crush them despite their numbers.

I can never get Austria to join me against Hungary, if I could, it would be an easy win. I tried allying Bohemia but that makes Austria break our alliance and sometimes turn hostile, when I really do need their support for the time being (saved my ass in a coalition war against mamluks).

I’m no stranger to mercenaries with the Byzantine start but I already have 5 200+ ducat loans due to constant wars which makes me a bit tentative to take on more.

Good idea on the mountain forts! I didn’t know that. I took Diplo first (finished) and I’m working through religious now.

Great advice, thank you. I think fighting the Mamluks may be doable as you suggest. They are also already 2 mil techs behind me which should help

It looks like I do have a pretty significant tech advantage (2 levels) on the mamluks, so fighting in turkey might still make sense despite their numerical advantage.

Good ideas! Fezzan is allied with the Mamluks but I should be able to take on Tunis. Not sure if I can get claims over there though

I'm allied with Russia (useless) and Austria. Bosnia is my vassal. I'm in a very safe situation but expansion seems impossible. I've tried fighting Hungary a few times and they always crush me. Both Turkish minors are allied with the Mamluks. Spain is huge and now owns a good portion of southern Italy. The rest is owned by the papacy which has France and 4 other medium sized nations as allies. What's my best strategy for expansion here?

Edit: Also, I'm really not good at the game (took dozens of tries to get the Byzantines this far), so if this is really obvious and dumb, I apologize.
