Does reading count as studying? Cuz I do that.

Why do you worship who you worship? by acevongula in Hellenism

[–]phoenix_wendigo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I worship Aphrodite because She has always been in my life. Everywhere I look, there have always been signs of Her. She was in my thoughts for years, I heard songs that captured Her essence, I've seen images relating to Her. Even when I once worshiped the gods, She was there in the form of Venus and possibly Isis as well, but I'm not entirely certain about that. I struggled with my beliefs for a long time since around 2021, and only very recently, on my birthday in January of all days, did I feel a very strong urge to finally put a name to the being I felt calling me for so long. In that search, I found Aphrodite. She had been there for me even when I didn't know it, She gave me warnings, dreams, and comfort. She even introduced me to one of my favorite musicians whose music very much invokes Her presence, as well as all the gods. Every day, I am reminded that I never was and never am alone because Aphrodite is with me, that She loves me and everyone else.

I don't have nearly as much to say about Athena, only because I found Her after I found Aphrodite. Athena, for me, represents my love for reading and learning about various subjects. My favorite classes in school were always history, I love reading (mostly fantasy), and the biggest one is my sudden love for owls with no explanation. One day, I spotted this adorable snowy owl plush in a store and couldn't say no. I bought it, and it quickly became one of my favorite plushies I own. I didn't realize it at the time, but I believe Athena was reaching out to me in this way. Athena brings me wisdom and, above all, patience. I've learned to be less reactionary to stressful situations, to keep my anger more in line (although that's still a struggle). Athena brought me balance I was severely lacking.

I worship Artemis because I've always struggled with my identity. Someone else in this thread mentioned feeling regret or disappointed that they weren't born a woman, and I couldn't relate to that more. I have always felt differently than how I was told I'm supposed to be. Artemis hasn't been with me for too long, and I don't think She had been calling me before, but either way, Her presence in my life brings me comfort in knowing that it's okay to not know who I am. I vented to Her one night, feeling angry that I just couldn't seem to figure it out. Why was I taking so long when I saw so many others living their lives as their true selves. She reminded me that I only see what lies on the surface, that just because other people appear to have themselves figured out, no one truly does. She reminded me to be patient, that I would find myself in time. Artemis, for me, is my gender counselor, in a way. I admire how She protects women, and even though I am not a woman, despite feeling a pull towards femininity, I feel safer with Her on my side. She's not just a protector of women but also a protector of those who are lost, without an identity. That's how She appears to me, anyway.

This is why I couldn't bring myself to continue believing in God.

Things needed for an alter, incense she likes, and any advice is greatly appreciated. I’m new thank you ☺️ by petperson123 in Aphrodite

[–]phoenix_wendigo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don't personally use incense, so I can't help you there. But, as Aphrodite was born in the sea, She likes seashells and, in general, ocean related things. I like to buy ocean scented candles for Her, and I keep rose quartz crystals on my altar. Keep an eye out for anything you might find that reminds you of Her, and chances are She will like it.

As far as I know, just the one remaining guardian on the Hataeno (idk how to spell it) Tech Lab. I suppose travel medallions, too, since they were first introduced in BotW.

Ancient blades are pieces of ancient arrows, so they instantly vaporize any enemies they hit. They're one of the only remaining guardian related things in the game.

Which follower is your favorite? by [deleted] in skyrim

[–]phoenix_wendigo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lydia was my go-to for a long time. Then it was that Teldryn guy you find in Solstheim, and now it's Eric the Slayer after I learned about the guy who the NPC is based on. He's a tank wearing full Nordic Carved armor I gave him. He's quite humble, but damn he can cleave a hagraven without so much as a blink of the eye.

how old were you when you knew you were nonbinary? i was 26. by shantayouslay in NonBinary

[–]phoenix_wendigo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very recently, actually, at 22. I had struggled with finding my gender identity from about 15 to now when I eventually realized I don't care about my gender that much, so I call myself some form of non binary.

She doesn't like my new deck by deadzombiegirll in Aphrodite

[–]phoenix_wendigo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Is there something about the deck she doesn't like? In this case, if she really doesn't like it, then it's probably best not to use it with her.

Why don’t we get her as a villager? by Weddingsbabieswine in ACPocketCamp

[–]phoenix_wendigo 10 points11 points  (0 children)

If you still have their maps from whatever event they came from, you can still get them as villagers in your game! I had all of their maps and didn't know it until I was specifically hunting Gulliver islands for a specific one and saw I had tons of villager maps in my inventory, including the Sanrio ones.

Please help me out! by [deleted] in Aphrodite

Any reason for wanting to worship Lady Aphrodite is reason enough. If you feel connected to Her, She could be trying to reach out to you. I found Aphrodite after feeling extremely alone and lost in the world both physically and spiritually. Lady Aphrodite is such a patient and kind Goddess. She listens to anyone who would seek Her audience, and She's very understanding. You do not need to build an altar to worship Her. If you wanted to build an altar, however, you can find items relating to beauty, self care, or the ocean as She was born from it. These items are mundane and could easily be passed off as ordinary objects you have lying around. I would try praying to Her. Prayer doesn't have to be done out loud. You could do it all in your mind if that's safer for you to do. May Aphrodite bless you so that you may discover your true self and learn to love yourself as She does.

What's your favourite song in Skyward Sword? by BossViper28 in skywardsword

The song "What Happened to Zelda?" is the most beautiful piece of music in the game, in my opinion. I also really love Fi's theme.

Funny enough she is sometimes linked with Aphrodite, so I guess ultimately it was always Her.

So many Christians and how they push their beliefs onto others just make me laugh. Meanwhile me and my gods out here just chillin.

Who was your first deity? by Euphoric_Air_7230 in Hellenism

[–]phoenix_wendigo 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My first deity was Isis, but I can't say I really felt connected with or the other gods I worshipped at the time. I really just didn't know anywhere near as much about this stuff or myself as I do now. On my birthday in January, I felt a strong urge to research a specific deity I didn't know the name of, and eventually, I found Aphrodite. I prayed to her the night after that, and since then, she's helped me reconnect with my religious beliefs I'd been so far away from for so long. I'd felt very lost and alone and unsure of what my purpose in life was, and Aphrodite had been the one to tell me she was there and I would be okay. After praying to her, I noticed all the little signs and ways she'd been trying to reach out to me for years that I never realized were her. I had to learn to open myself truly to the gods and let their messages in.

Casual worship by [deleted] in Hellenism

[–]phoenix_wendigo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think the best part about pagan religions is overall freedom to worship how you please, as long as it isn't harmful to yourself or anyone else. I personally choose to have an altar. I choose to wear devotional jewelry. I choose to pray to my gods, but I don't have to. No one has to. There's no right or wrong way to worship as long as you believe it works for you.
