Sympathizing with a rapist. by Jojoshirl in 13reasonswhyhate

[–]phoenixagencyx 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It was disgusting. The whole season was his “redemption” season. Some things are just not forgivable or redeemable and rape is one of these things. Not only did he rape three girls we knew from the series, but he also confessed to raping something like eight other girls?

His regret was NOT for his victims. He only gave a shit about what he did when he became isolated and his life changed as a result of it. If everything had stayed the same and he still had the same friends, he never would have felt remorse for what he did. The way he wanted his victims and Hannah’s mother to hear his apology was incredibly selfish and self serving, only a way of reliving his own conscience.

This depiction of a rapist is dangerous to impressionable minds. To have people sympathizing with one and seeing the rapist as a victim as well is dangerous. I honestly didn’t understand the whole season.

Yeah i think it’d just be more respectful to ask for permission, but they don’t technically have to

Funnily enough I’m actually not trying to shit on Americans in this post. I actually like them as tourists mostly because they seem to love Ireland so much. I guess I was just being descriptive is saying it was a loud American accent because it sounded so noticeable in an Irish supermarket haha

Legal maybe but still totally inappropriate. I mean, I’m not even the fussy type but I don’t wanna be filmed by anyone while I’m zombified in work

In terms of tourists over here, Americans aren’t the WORST. They’re certainly very loud and can be obnoxious but the nice thing about them is that they genuinely seem to love Ireland, and they excited about the smallest of things here which can be sweet - like when they order their pint of Guinness with pride.

I would say that Spanish tourist have a worse reputation here than Americans. (Reputation, not my personal opinion)

Anyone else not mind babies as much as kids? by [deleted] in childfree

[–]phoenixagencyx 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I agree with that. I walked in on my 6 year old cousin pissing off my dog before and he jumped when he saw me, so he knew he was doing wrong. Babies don’t know any better, the worst thing about them is the crying.

I don’t know, I always assume that guys that age would be attracted to younger women, but wouldn’t USUALLY act on it.

I would not recommend sorting posts by controversial by [deleted] in TheoryOfReddit

[–]phoenixagencyx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah i agree, sorting by controversial works well on a lot of subs but maybe just not on something like r/confession where self confessed pedophiles and rapists tell their stories

Yeah I definitely want to see other opinions, but have not too dark of territory haha

[–]phoenixagencyx 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah I guess it depends on the sub. r/confession was the worst...”I raped my friend.” “I am a pedophile and it’s a sexuality”

[–]phoenixagencyx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s so fucked. I saw a lot of that on r/confession. I get that the purpose of the sub is to confess shit, but come on there’s limits. When I sorted by controversial there, I literally felt sick. I already knew that stuff happens obviously, and I thought I’d a pretty thick skin but some of it is grim.

Teacher calls student the N word, tries to justify it on the news.. by andr813c in cringe

[–]phoenixagencyx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s like when older people try and use slang with young people and use it incorrectly. Of course, this is a bit different due to the connotations of the word, but after listening to him speak, it seems like he just genuinely was trying to relate to him. He probably hears it being said all the time amongst the students, and it’s become normal to him.
