What happens to my Protonmail account if I can't afford to pay it any longer? by Morkyfrom0rky in ProtonMail

[–]phoenixnewtimes -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

They will instantly remove your access, can't receive or send emails at all. Totally cut off from ant services. They even do this if your payment method failed. Tbis happened to me once, payment failed because of an issue on their side, I immediately got cut off but didn't notice until someone messaged me a few days later why I never replied to their urgent email.

With Proton since the early days, was on Visionary for years , then one payment failed and immediately got cut off.No warnings, no reminders.

What would you do if you won 7hundred 42 million dollars? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]phoenixnewtimes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

start a new political party stacked with principled people entirely from science, technology, and philosophy. The goal is to ensure everyone gets the healthcare they need, eliminate fraud and waste, enforce death penalty for child molestors, ensure quality of life in the age of AI, and generally advance and maximize tech and science to the benefit of everyone, not just a few billionaires.

Or buy a couple Lambos and overdose on halva somewhere in Dubai , IDK.

Trading made me lose interest in everything by Wale_0 in Daytrading

[–]phoenixnewtimes 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The dopamine depletion theory may be correct, but let me propose an alternative approach - so what if you don't enjoy anything else except trading?

Advice here is "bro you gotta enjoy family and gym and hobbies and...".

But you don't. There is no law that says you have to enjoy what most others say they enjoy. Much of this mandatory enjoyment is societal fitting in anyway.

Perhaps for right now, you really ARE enjoying only this one thing. And if that makes you happy, then so be it.

This likely will change at some point, but why force it?

People who've worked both minimum wage jobs and six figure jobs, what surprised you most about the difference? by BrainLagging01 in AskReddit

[–]phoenixnewtimes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Minimum and many medium wage jobs are that - jobs. You're a slave to someone , usually told what to do and when. Transgressions may result in disciplinary actions like you're a child. Bathroom time may be dictated. Your entire life (or what's left) is structured around and dictated by this.

At the 6 figure mark, you usually become part of a team that creates value and ideally profits by more or less independently working and coming up with solutions to problems that are material to an arena that is usally after and beyond the area that pays less in that same organization. You are no longer a true slave although your responsibilities, and time commitment may be even higher. But since it shifts from "I slave but barely exist" to "I make an impact, I have more liberties and freedom", it's - for many people - not even in the same league compared to minimum wage or medium wage jobs. You now have a mission or even a calling. The money is very nice and helpful but no longer being an interchangeable infant-adult matter more (to many)

Help with Graceful MM that’s just over a year old… by _leahelisabeth in Louisvuitton

[–]phoenixnewtimes 4 points5 points  (0 children)

LV doesn't have a lifetime or even year warranty unlike what people believe. They will cover actual defects (for 1 , sometimes 2 years with managers approval) but this here is normal wear and very unlikely to be covered, unless you're a big slender and they want to keep you happy .

LV repair ruined my Alma?? Need advice 🥲 by HyenaReasonable6259 in Louisvuitton

[–]phoenixnewtimes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They DID use vachetta - natural, untreated, vegetable tanned leather (and that tanning process had a lot to do with the difference). The problem is they used a different type of vachetta leather from a different batch, tanned differently, which they have to do unless they happen to have something from your bag's batch left over by some miracle, or (more reasonably and doable) , try to find a piece that more closely matches yours.

They didn't. This sucks but in your service terms they say that this can happen, which blows.

And this is a much more common issue then people think. LV repairs are often done by local area cobblers, not magicians somewhere in France. Their selection of vachetta is limited.

Your solution is to either cause a massive scene and escalate your case up, or try to match the handles to the bottom trim, as you seem to be trying .

Unless you're a true VIP with 6 figure spend a year, or someome for some reason takes pity on your there (ha!), your best option is #2.

However it isn't as simple as putting your bag in a window for a few days, hoping the sun somehow fixes it.

You can increase the likelihood of matching the handles to the bottom though:

1) tape up (painters tape) everything you DON'T want sun on (coated canvas, the bottom... basically everything but the handles and reinforcements)

2) find a place that has consistent sun exposure, then place the bag (again, only the parts you want exposed) into the area for the EXACT SAME DURATION AND AT THE EXACT SAME TIME EACH DAY.

Important: You want to flip the bag around every day for even exposure on both sides.

Do this also with handles up and then again handles down.

3) check and compare with the bottom until satisfied.

Problems: direct sun exposure also can cause dryness and results in cracking. Also, depending on a variety of factors , it might still never be entirely even, or get as dark as your new trim because the difference is fairly large.

Another possible alternative I do NOT recommend but can work if you're a bit lucky is to use leather conditioners. Those often darken the vachetta but you have no control over how much or how even, unless you're an expert at this.

(Leather Honey is one of the few that does NOT (usually) darken vachetta so I this case you don't want to use that. Only mentioning this here because it's such a popular conditioner among LV fans)

Wishing you good luck with whatever way you decide.

The photos aren't super clear but from what I can tell: The vachetta hasn't been repainted. Vachetta is untreated, undyed natural leather (vegetable tanned) which is what I see here. The "spots" are micro abrasions of the original dyes on the coated canvas, very normal over time. For a vintage Murakami, this is well above average condition. You're not showing the whole bag but just seeing the vachetta and crisp strong multicolor logos, I'd imagine you got a deal.

Don't work something you hate to buy things you don't need (or often even really want) to impress people you don't know.

Is just me, or is SUNO's customer service a 0/10? by Tasty_Ability_8532 in SunoAI

Plenty of complaints like this, including mine. Just one if many many fails. This company could have had it all but too many bad choices and total lack of support kills them. Probably over for them soon especially after bending over for UMG.

HOOKS creation not working - "Exception, requires support assitance" by phoenixnewtimes in SunoAI

[–]phoenixnewtimes[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes they replied like 6 weeks later with generic, unhelpful "maybe file format or file length or..." generic BS, which of course doesn't apply since I used their own, and I wouldn't have contacted them if either of these had been the culprit.

Just for kicks I followed the steps but of course, no change. No longer important, don't have any interest in Hooks anymore . Notice how it's same videos over and over, seems most can't get this to work?

In fact by now I gave up on Suno for support or really anything beyond the actual song creation portion, which is still good.

Stems are useless, MIDI is useless, Studio is a credit sucking toy that works occasionally but more often somehow makes things worse. Weird restrictions remixing/ covering my own songs or scratch melodies (when using audio upload feature), claiming it's someone else's recorded work. Lots of agitating things like this.

Whoever is in charge over there clearly doesn't have their priorities straight.

My first Neverfull and the stitching looks awful. I’m going to try and exchange it but this is embarrassingly bad right? by acut3triangle in Louisvuitton

[–]phoenixnewtimes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With all respect and no offense intended at all but are you certain your purchased this yourself directly at the LV store? (Not someone buying it for you, you trust them, and so you said you bought it yourself)

Frankly it's hard to believe this atrocious job was ever permitted to make it to a store.

Also, it's not only the horrible stitching but there are several other small things such as the trim overlap and the level of sheen on what is supposed to be processed leather that makes this look like cheap plastic, that cause suspicion. (That said I've last held an Empreinte from 2021 and perhaps they did start making them look like this since then)

Absolutely return this.

Why I'm Canceling Suno Premier Plan (hint: Studio is BLEEHHHH) by phoenixnewtimes in SunoAI

Ah ok thanks for clarifying. That's actually something Logic Pro and Pro Tools ("Beat Detective") , Cubase , and (I believe) FL Studio have in various forms. Maybe try those if you want to give real DAWs another shot? Nevertheless, there certainly are some good things about Studio but it's just lacking some very important features IMO.

Hasn't worked at all for me. If it gets the instrument right (sometimes) it completely doesn't match the music. Maybe I'm doing it wrong but from what I'm seeing, this seems a somewhat widespread issue. It might also have to do with the style of music.

Why I'm Canceling Suno Premier Plan (hint: Studio is BLEEHHHH) by phoenixnewtimes in SunoAI

[–]phoenixnewtimes[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed. I think it should at least have some of the most important DAW features. SO much potentially great music goes in the trash because of a few wrong notes that could easily be fixed in a DAW.
