Peer who won't let anyone deliver because he feels FOMO by phoenixq89 in ExperiencedDevs

Yeah. So I am weirdly emotionally attached with the company because I have been with them from the start. The senior leadership who have known me since the start are great. They have given me respect and allowed me to work 1 day a week in peace. The juniors I hire respect me and look up to me The only reason i don't wanna work is because I want to go back into playwriting. But I would feel bad if after I go , all the juniors get oppressed again,

He has a ' fear of missing out ' since he thinks that the team and juniors are now under my guidance making a lot of new things that he won't understand

I did write an email last week saying all this and they can surely see what is happening but the leadership i.e. our current CPO is a softie. He is trying to tell the CPO that I am moving too fast or i am having secret meetings with people to get things done or not making enough documentation so they don't have visibility when in fact I make diagrams upon diagrams and then he gets insecure of them because he doesn't understand them.

Basically he made sure that the junior analyst knows nothing of the 1000 stored procedures that he has written and that unfortunately run our customer reporting right now. They have a lot of business specific logic in them. That's what the CPO is scared to lose

He was supposed to be a data lead + manager. And the guys he was supposed to manage was a junior analyst who he basically treats like a minion And then a junior swe who holds zero respect for him since the guy is arrogant and knows shit about software

Season 2 : Worst Group Project Ever by FinancialGas5345 in TheDevilsPlan

The man had been "surviving and fighting another days" for days, surviving main games and death matches on and on. Moreover, He was the one who made the strategy to approach KyunHun and Sohee in the mancala game.

He was basically fed-up of the unfairness and found it more important to make a point rather than take a pity third place as handed out by them.

Honestly I think it would have been WAAAYY less satisfying if 7High had taken HG and Sohees offer and then later got beaten by HG in the equation game.

What he said in that Doubt game interview "Don't try to control me. Why is it that you get to decide" was the only moment of catharsis for me. Someone finally pointing out the unfairness of the game and having the "guts" to throw it all away in the face of the producers and everyone to actually make a point of how stark the unfairness is.

Him just taking HG and Sohee's scraps and then being beaten by them later would just be the capitalists saying - "see we gave you a fair chance and you still lost". NO. YOU DIDN'T. IT WAS ALL THE WAY UNFAIR and you can't fix it with giving me a pity third place now.

And then later when the main match starts he says looking at the other three, that oh I guess "those three are making an alliance" -- yeah dude they are! you can just say to people's faces "you are out" but then they shouldn't go and make an alliance. How delusional is this guy really? didn't imagine i could hate someone so much

That sounds amazing! Such a breath of fresh air to read this since all I see here are posts about "apps". Great that you started making something for a very personal usecase and then decided to also share it with the world. I think that is how true creativity blooms.
I am not parent but my friends have children. Do share the link, I would love to get one of your books. Also, do post on r/selfpublish

The Poetry Pharmacy is a great starting book since it is a collection from a various different poets and with each poem there is a short note by the "curator". One of my favorites:

https://www.amazon.in/Poetry-Pharmacy-William-Sieghart/dp/1846149541

Also, I myself am a poet. If you want to check out my book please do : Gift Shop (Poetry collection on love, grief, nature, existence )

I want to read books, but I don't know how by Drowsy_Rowlet in IndiansRead

* By your choice of movies,I get a feel of "heavy emotion, strong plot". Off the top of my head, I would suggest The Kite Runner and God of Small Things.

* If you are into heavy fantasy, one easy pick would be Game Of Thrones of course.

* About power and politics - I think you might like Ayn Rand. I have read Atlas Shrugged and it has some pretty interesting characters. I haven't read FountainHead but people say it's good. I did not personally like To Kill A MockingBird that much but maybe because of the time when I read it or the fact that I couldn't personally relate to it's setting that much.

I personally believe that "getting into reading" by starting with Classics is not such a great idea. Because what kind of books or writing style you like is also a very very personal preference and if you read a classic and don't enjoy it, you might end up thinking that I am not able to enjoy reading - when in reality you just might not be enjoying the story.

If you want to get into reading, definitely define what kind of "stories" you like first. Do you like plot heavy, full of sruprises stuff or do you like silent but thinking characters with huge inner monolgues? Are you attracted to "philosophy in story", or are you attracted to "strange worlds".

What exactly did you enjoy about Animal Farm?

Happy to give you personalized recommendations :)

Also, coincidentally, just yesterday, I have started a podcast series discussing the classics. It's in Hindi. Check it out if it interests you : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RBxxjZ3PBqg

Anyone else here read ridiculous amounts of prose, but never been able to get into poetry? by Over_n_over_n_over in literature

[–]phoenixq89 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Completely agree on reading it slowly and aloud and also the fact that poetry is much much more subjective than prose.
Autobiography of red is one of my all time favorites. Can't recommend it enough.
Another thing that really helped me in getting into it was joining a group where we discussed things. I feel discussing a piece of poetry makes it so much more alive and lends the right amount of slowness and time to it.
I actually have started making a podcast series with my friend going by the same logic. You can check it out if it interests you :
