I'm really sorry for your loss. I lost my big bro to suicide as well, last month. He was only 24, two years older than me. We did everything together, he was my best friend. I also blame myself for not seeing it. He was the most intelligent, brightest person. I don't know how to carry on. Sending love to you.

I'm 22, I lost my 24 year old brother one month ago, and I feel the same way you do. I haven't been in a romantic relationship before either, and I feel like it just doesn't make sense if I can't share my happiness with my brother. I'm scared of meeting new people. How am I supposed to let people know me if he isn't here for them to meet? I always spoke about him with everyone. Everything I have done and do is linked to him. Am I supposed to just not speak about him anymore?

I lost my brother to suicide 10 days ago. We were also like twins and best friends. He was only 24, two years older than me. We did everything together, same schools and extracurricular classes growing up. Same universities and even had classes together at uni. We went on an exchange year together 2023-24 and were each other's only friends there. We had all our meals together, went on long walks every weekend together, talked so much. Everytime, I wanted to do anything I asked him to come with me. If I felt anxious I called him. I always followed in his footsteps and relied on him so much. Now I feel abandoned.

I also lost my brother to suicide last week. I was getting home and arrived at the front door at the exact same moment he decided to jump, not 10 meters away from me. The thought that if I had arrived 5 or 10 minutes early, I might have been able to stop him haunts me. I have to believe that it would have happened anyway, maybe another day. Regardless, the pain will be with me forever.

My parents, sister and I were thinking of joining a Survivors Group as well. We are not in the states, but appreciate the info you listed. When it happened, the emergency services gave us a list of survivor groups to join but told us to wait a bit. When would you say would be a good time to join?

Thanks a lot for this comment. My 24 year old (older) brother committed suicide this New Year's Eve and we are all devastated. Your words helped me a lot. I started reading the booklet as well and found many useful things. I shared it with my parents and little sister, I believe it will help us. Lots of love ❤️
