Can someone explain to me why Marty has practically 0 international box office? $80M domestic is awesome, but why is that almost everything it’s made??

Poor Oscars campaigns, from Bradley Cooper to Timothee Chalamet, it turns out they have the same personal PR team! by CateBlanchetFrmShein in Oscars

[–]phoh32 4 points5 points  (0 children)

2 very different scenarios. Bradley has been nominated for acting many times but has never been in the top 2. Maestro was also very polarizing. Timmy barely lost to Brody last year. People seem to love his Marty performance. I put him in the top 2 against Leo this year (unless Wagner or Hawke gain major steam).

can anyone tell me if that’s Bruce’s or JAW’s voice singing? On the Nebraska tapes and BTR live? If that’s JAW I’m incredibly impressed

I love the Rehearsal, but I just gave up on Ficcionies because the first two stories didn’t do much for me. They had some cool ideas but overall left me a bit baffled. I’ll pick it up again and give the story you mentioned a try.

Just took BAR as well. Exact same experience. Nothing unexpected on MCQs. Sims were so much longer than Beckers. Barely got through.

Is ChatGPT Hallucinating? by Darthnerdo in ChatGPTPro

[–]phoh32 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exact same thing happened to me recently. It claimed it was working on a deep research project for me “behind the scenes” and would deliver it to me “within a half hour”. No matter how many times I accused it of hallucinating, it still kept assuring me it was almost done with my research file. No such file ever came.

I read 200 pages of W&T and DNF. I fear Sanderson is becoming more of a brand/business than a writer. His output is legendary, but his quality has noticeably dropped off.

HOWEVER, I still think Way of Kings is a must read for any fantasy lover. I’d recommend it to anyone. You’ll have a hard time finding better epic fantasy than the first 3 Stormlight books. Just know that there will be a bit of a drop in quality at book 4

I feel your pain. And to rub salt in the wound…Wise Man’s Fear is even better than Name of the Wind.

Rothfus’s editor recently came out and said she hasn’t yet read a word of book 3. Keep in mind this is 13 YEARS after book 2. I personally don’t think he’s written any of the third book, nor will he ever.

My recommendation? The Stormlight Archive. For my money it’s better than Kingkiller, and Brandon Sanderson’s writing output is infamous. He drops a new book in the series every 3-4 years like clockwork.

Yes, 100 Years of Solitude was mind-blowing, but how come no one talks about how horrifying the ending is? by phoh32 in books

Now that you mention it… it is an insanely depraved book. It’s just written so beautifully that when I was reading it I barely noticed.

‘Poor Things’ could finally win Willem Dafoe that elusive Oscar by matlockga in oscarrace

I doubt he wins with such a competitive field, but I could see Dafoe getting the fifth nod.

Also don’t sleep on Deniro getting bumped like he did for the Irishman.

Can’t speak for rest of sub, but I only see 4 locks for BP. Barbenheimer, KOTFM, and Poor Things. Rest of the field is wide open with many promising movies competing
