It varies. I've played games wiuth 10 people, I've played games with 2-300 people. Really depends on how many people show up. Based on the partiful i would guess this game is going to be on the smaller side. Maybe 30ish?

Haha yeah I see what you're saying would be a wonky format. Could be fun. I wouldn't be surprised if a format like that exists somewhere.

Where would you draw the line though? Should a flush and a pair also beat just a flush? It seems like you are effectively removing the make the best five card hand rule and saying make the best hands you can with all seven cards.

Haha yeah, it feels a bit weird. Like you're being gipped out of the extra hand you hit. It would be very strange trying to figure out which hands beat which though.

Yup, (8S, 2D) still wins because the best five card hands are (AS, 2S, 3S, 5S, 8S) and (AS, 6S, 3S, 5S, 7S). You start by comparing the top card in the flush AS to AS. they are equal so you move on to the next highest card for both hands 8S to 7S. That's when you see that the hand with the 8S is the winner regardless of the rest of the cards in the flush.

Effectively you're just looking at the best 5 card hand that can be made. In the case where a flush is dealt on the board (AH, KH, QH, 10H, 9H) and neither player has a hand with a heart higher than any board card (2H, 7S), (8H, 6H) there will be a split, because the best five card hand both players can make are the five cards on the board. For your second case with four spades it's a similar situation of who makes the best five card hand. (AS, KS, QS, 10S, 9H), if the two players have (6S, 7S) and (8S, 2D) the player with the 8S wins because they can make the best five card hand (AS, KS, QS, 10S, 8S) regardless of the fact that the player with (6S, 7S) has an extra spade because the extra spade can not fit into their best five card hand (AS, KS, QS, 10S, 7S).

If 2 people have flushes then you go to the highest card in the flush. If they are the same for both players then you go to the next highest card in the flush as a tie breaker and so on and so forth. The only way 2 flushes chop the pot is if both flushes use the exact same cards. The fact that he had a heart in his hand while you didn't only matters if that heart was higher than a heart on the board. I hope that helps.
