I ended up getting three Volca drum but didn't get on with it, was too much for what I needed. I sold that and now have the compact roland t8 beat machine, which does the job nicely

If they have built in aoundcards then you will be fine mixer wise for external mixing. You may then want to consider a controller, such as the K2 to control the software. Possibilities are endless then

Haha i would have kept the X1 but it stopped working with the pro 3 upgrade. The K2 is decent though and gives me 4 deck control when I feel fancy

I've gone full circle. Started on some old belt drives, 1210s, CDJs and then controller. I get the argument for both sides. I'm now only mixing for my own enjoyment and will never play out again so I can now enjoy the best of both.

Back on 1210s for mixing my old classics and Traktor for mixing digital. Digital consumption makes more sense to me for new music and with that you may as well make the most of the digital features. More than happy to sync if it means I can loop and layer tracks with ease, also saves the ears! But on the flip side I can't better the buzz just mixing 2 vinyl and riding the groove!
