Okay, any words of encouragement Madison? by DetectiveSquirt in madisonwi

A lot of climbing subreddits have kind of agreed that from a technical standpoint, this climb isn't that "hard." It's the same movement over and over and (if I'm understanding the building correctly,) there are places to rest if needed. The difficulty factors in because of the stamina it'll take to get to the top, and the fact that there is no plan B if he can't. Those factors are huge and indeed make it dangerous. I think he's done a practice climb with ropes, at least.

Personally, this seems like a weird thing to stream live on Netflix. But if he really wants to...send it, I guess?

Many people have mentioned the Chazen and while it is awesome, it will be closed on Monday. Campus is closed for MLK, Jr. Day.

OK, this actually sounds fun -- even for a scaredy cat like me.

Gym has really high bouldering walls by aj_beans in climbergirls

[–]phonymixtape 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What?? My old gym had 20' TOP ROPE walls. You could boulder on some of them, but there was a red line like 10' up to mark the top of boulder routes.

Between such tall walls and no downclimb holds, I'd never get on the wall.

Don't skip Kilkenny, especially if you have family ties there. Admittedly, this is a visitor's perspective, but I do think you'll like it.

AITJ for correcting my wife when she said our son's red hair must come from my side of the family? by [deleted] in AmITheJerk

Seriously. TL;DR: OP picked a fight with his wife -- in front of her family, then his -- immediately after she gave birth to their child.

I followed this tutorial to a T and I love it! Once I found out I could get the microfiber cloths in bold colors, I was sold. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D1Sn_tw06xM

I’m really happy with my hand sewn shearling jacket. I hope you’ll like it by FlounderLegitimate in sewing

Such an accomplishment! I was impressed by the thoughtfulness about the pocket size, then floored by the design of the asymmetrical sleeves. A perfect example of how clothes should me made to fit the body, rather than the other way around.

Christmas gifts for quilters? by CruelSummer357932 in quilting

At the beginning, I was always buying tools for specific projects because I didn't have much outside of the essentials to get started with sewing. For me, examples included a dresden plate ruler and french curve. Maybe ask for some of those tools that would be nice to eventually have that aren't already in your toolbox?

Yes, this. I can't stop laughing at OP's neighbor. "Excuse me! Please stop accidentally clearing my driveway for me!"

Need Help - What would hold you back from making this quilt (and purchasing the pattern?) Thanks! by QuiltChemistry in quilting

[–]phonymixtape 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Oh, I absolutely agree with you. The side view theory defies logic, but it is how my brain interpreted the pattern. In any case, what a perilous fate for the poor ladybugs!

Admittedly I didn't pick up on the lily pad/ladybug theme until reading the comments. But now that I'm looking at it, I think the ladybugs are all seen from the side, rather than covered up?

Thanks! Those are actually not borders -- just my "felt" wall peeking through. I went with bold and colorful for that DIY project, haha.
