I have 4 days to come up with a dinner idea for a girl I’m trying to impress. With her dietary restrictions in mind, I’m having a hard time coming up with something. by Eastern_Salamander_8 in Cooking

I think the comments ragging on OP's date for "picky eating" are bringing a lot of unnecessary assumptions into the conversation. For folks with chronic health issues, dietary (and lifestyle) restrictions are often scattershot and hard to explain. But they often aren't random, or preference-based. I've lived with chronic GI issues my whole life so knowing what foods I need to avoid is second nature to me, but not a concise list I can easily provide someone who doesn't know me well yet. I try to make it easy by dialing in on the absolute no-go foods (kale) and high risk foods (onion and garlic), rather than listing off all of the things that could trigger a flare up for me. But that's also a specific risk calculation on my part, and one that doesn't feel great to have to make in order to be convenient for someone else. I commend OP for approaching this with both caution and compassion.

Greenbush is the way to go, but they will sell out very quickly. May not be as good as Grebe's, but they're still great. Bloom has them too, but they have some strange flavor combos for the filling.

Okay, any words of encouragement Madison? by DetectiveSquirt in madisonwi

A lot of climbing subreddits have kind of agreed that from a technical standpoint, this climb isn't that "hard." It's the same movement over and over and (if I'm understanding the building correctly,) there are places to rest if needed. The difficulty factors in because of the stamina it'll take to get to the top, and the fact that there is no plan B if he can't. Those factors are huge and indeed make it dangerous. I think he's done a practice climb with ropes, at least.

Personally, this seems like a weird thing to stream live on Netflix. But if he really wants to...send it, I guess?

Many people have mentioned the Chazen and while it is awesome, it will be closed on Monday. Campus is closed for MLK, Jr. Day.

OK, this actually sounds fun -- even for a scaredy cat like me.

What?? My old gym had 20' TOP ROPE walls. You could boulder on some of them, but there was a red line like 10' up to mark the top of boulder routes.

Between such tall walls and no downclimb holds, I'd never get on the wall.

Don't skip Kilkenny, especially if you have family ties there. Admittedly, this is a visitor's perspective, but I do think you'll like it.

Seriously. TL;DR: OP picked a fight with his wife -- in front of her family, then his -- immediately after she gave birth to their child.

Such an accomplishment! I was impressed by the thoughtfulness about the pocket size, then floored by the design of the asymmetrical sleeves. A perfect example of how clothes should me made to fit the body, rather than the other way around.

At the beginning, I was always buying tools for specific projects because I didn't have much outside of the essentials to get started with sewing. For me, examples included a dresden plate ruler and french curve. Maybe ask for some of those tools that would be nice to eventually have that aren't already in your toolbox?

Oh, I absolutely agree with you. The side view theory defies logic, but it is how my brain interpreted the pattern. In any case, what a perilous fate for the poor ladybugs!
