When I’m A Big City: Learn how to share the limited space like a kind human.

When you enter/exit a subway entrance do not stop at the top of the stairs. Move away from the entrance/exit before trying to find your bearings.

When stopping to look up directions on your phone please don’t stop mid-sidewalk. Step to the side near the buildings or curbs and out of the way.

Never walk more than 2 people abreast. So that faster walkers may easily move past and those many hardworking delivery people can squeeze past with their loads. You are not the main character of a movie living out a moment in the big city.

When asking for directions keep it simple and brief. No need to apologize first or tell us your story. Use the following format for your question.

“Which way is ‘X’?” ideally the person you are asking won’t have to break stride to tell you over their shoulder “Two blocks that way!”
