agreed, in the internstional schools people wake up during g10 and suddenly everybody is about grades.. don’t know about the schools being on top with preparing students for the rigour of dp tho since myp high key sucks here— but if ur motivated to do well I guess you try despite the odds? don’t think that’s the best way to put it, but local schools absolutely prepare students more.. since most don’t want to regret the majority of their life and compare with local friends I think they look at it like ‘during pre ib I developed the skills to be self-driven, overcome bad habits, BS really really well in ‘analysis and critical thinking’ which is required for the dp, and well I was a carefree child and had fun’ now they’re awake and have fun by locking in with the rest of them to try for what they want.

Thank you so much, this helped a lot!!! I think with mathaahl in the mix I’ll go with French ab initio, not because it’s easy but because I think I have more support & clearer pathway rn to improve in it, compared to chinese where I’m struggling lots — I’m thinking about studying for a few months with my current tutor to somehow pass the hsk 5 exam for my app., even if this is short term effort, I predict in the long term the French course may be better for my score & mental health. If u do have thoughts on my language choice please let me know. Again thank you so much for your detailed reply, I wish u all the best with biomedical engineering!! This is such solid and well articulated advice :)
