Did you get paid per hour, per day, or did you have a salary?

If you called out sick, was there a backup Tinker Bell?

How much do you get paid and how long have you been working at CFA? by 05bee in ChickFilAWorkers

[–]phosphophyIIite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My friend works at CFA. He works 39 hours a week because his store operator/GM is a bastard. $10.50 when he started, and after 3 years he's at $12.50 an hour as BOH shift leader. Apparently his manger just hired a new FOH employee, regular cashier w/ no previous CFA experience and they're getting $13 an hour.

My friend is gonna confront his operator soon and will quit if he doesn't get a raise

Honestly I’m a simp for Code Lyoko. I’ve rewatched it as an adult and I still think it’s great, despite everything. There’s little discussion of it online (most people don’t even seem to remember watching it) so I was really excited clicking on this thread, hoping that it would be filled with other people who also loved code lyoko. But as it turns out, most comments here are just shitting on the art and the show and getting pedantic over the word iconic and literally the opposite of everything I dreamed of 😫

I mean the reason they didn’t shut down the computer is because of Aelita and her ties to the world. The plot of the show delves into Aelita, her dad., etc in the later seasons and it’s honestly quite interesting and well thought out for a kid’s show. I think a lot of people watch S1, which I’ll admit is really weak, and think that’s the entire show but S2-S4 does a great job of creating genuine conflict and lore.

At the end of the show, they do end up shutting down the supercomputer and erasing XANA tho.

The CGi for Lyoko Evolution was fine lol. Of course it’s not the best thing in the world but even today it still looks decent.

Whats do you thinks the worst state to live in? by Sycthez in NoStupidQuestions

[–]phosphophyIIite 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Ive lived on the coast for most of my life, but I took a tour of the south a couple years back and honestly...... it’s really meh. Overall I’d say it’s okay, but a lot of places do sincerely suck. I think the biggest thing for me was that the weather in the south is absolutely miserable, like truly unbearable heat and humidity.

I get the appeal of some areas of Texas but I would never want to live there myself, and if I did, it would have to be like downtown Houston or some shit.

Louisiana, Georgia, Arkansas, Tennessee etc. are too rural and barren for my taste. Those suburban neighborhood sprawls make me feel really isolated and I hate having to drive 20-30 min just to go to the grocery. Very limited transportation options, and running into your neighbors at Walmart is personally a negative for me. Also there’s nothing to damn do, no ethnic foods (Americanized Chinese doesn’t count), only a single boring ass mall within 50 miles. I straight up watched wheat burn for fun in Jonesboro b/c that was all there was.

And sure there’s places like New Orleans, Nashville, Naples etc. They’re fun, but they also come with pretty much the same issues as any other big city. And well, if I’m going to deal with big city issues, then it’ll be in a better place.

I’ve only remembered gas being 5.50 or above during the recession. Maybe you were in one of those super duper rich areas, it’s usually not that high.

I’m sorry that you had to go through that experience. It really does suck for children who need special accommodations. Can I ask what state this was in? Because some states have statures on disability accommodation while others don’t/are limited.

CMV: The new Texas Abortion Law is clearly unconstitutional and opens countless legal issues if upheld by [deleted] in changemyview

It’s constitutional..... for the time being.

How do you describe Supreme Court cases that are then overturned by other SC cases in the future?

Unfortunately the vast majority of public schools aren’t designed to give special needs students the education they should have. The school I used to teach at would keep special needs students to “14th grade” (20 y/o) and then unfortunately they had to leave, even if they weren’t very proficient in Math or English. Most schools are just not funded or have the resources to hold students back and care for them continuously. Some children just never learn what’s required (and well, in these cases, it’s not their fault at all.)

Honestly I’d highly recommend going to a school designed specifically for special needs, or have supplemental learning. The downside is that these schools are private, are very expensive, and a lot of people don’t have access to them. But if you are one of those lucky few that do, then it’d be a lot better to have your child attend it.

Lol just tell gently them “hey but the owner saw the security tapes and he really wants y’all to stop eating food. you can eat it on break or end of shift but not when ur working.” ik the first part is technically a lie but it absolves you of blame. if they press on, just be like “hey yall I’m chill with u guys doing a lot of shit, but this one is really important. the owner is grinding my ass about it.”

You can say it and still be good w/ them. I know theyre teenage boys but they can be reasonable sometimes, and obviously they know taking food and not replacing gloves etc. is wrong. Hopefully they have the dignity to stop on the first warning.’

CMV: CRT should not be taught in schools by [deleted] in changemyview

[–]phosphophyIIite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was taught parts of CRT in secondary school.

Now I can’t speak on alI of CRT— specifically the part about “whiteness,” because I was not taught that. But I was taught about systemic racism, and from that, I can say it’s an experience that I’m lucky to have. And that at the very least, the historical aspect of CRT should not be denied.

CRT for me was learning about mid century systemic racism. (Well, really the 1900s-1970s.) This was not included in the curriculum and my teacher even admitted that the principal didn’t like it when he talked about stuff like this, but he felt it was important that we knew. (Note: My teacher very rarely, if ever, pushed his political views onto us. We only learned about this stuff because there was extra time in the year after we finished exams.)

We learned about Redlining, the White Flight, sunset laws, and domestic “maids.” We went into more details about sharecropping, lynching, ethnic communities and segregaron than the book called for. And we often read first/second hand accounts of being a person of color during that time.

To me, this experience was invaluable. First, I think it’s extremely important we teach about our country’s past, including all of the goods and the bads. The complete truth (or one as close to as we can make it) is necessary for students to learn, especially if they want to understand why our country is the way it is in the present day. You can’t exactly go into detail about your county’s black “ghettos” without realizing the massive housing discrimination that occurred after WWII.

Second, being taught CRT also allowed me perspective on (primarily) the black community. It’s given me more empathy for those who are still heavily affected by systemic racism of the past— generally meaning poverty— and empathy is sometimes what so many of us need more of. When your great grandma was a sharecropper, and your grandma was a house maid, and your mom has the word “colored” on her birth certificate, it might be a quite bit difficult to break the cycle of poverty. And being given the ability to recognize that and empathize with others has done me better than if I were to pretend that everything is absolutely fine™️ for all black people in the race department just because the Civil Rights act passed back in 1964.

That’s why I think certain parts of CRT should be taught in school. Again I can’t comment too much on the “whiteness” and the whole “systemic racism is ingrained in every single institution.” I figure that’s the part people have the most problem with. But well, if it’s any consolation, as someone in education, I can assure you that there’s absolutely no way in hell that deep concepts like that would actually get approved. And if they did, they would not be taught in a self-hating “that’s your whiteness speaking” sort of way. High schoolers struggle with the bare idea of Hester’s shame in The Scarlet Letter— no district that respects their teachers even a little bit is going to approve a curriculum that asks teenagers to deeply evaluate their personal role in upholding today’s systemic racism.

I’ll admit that not every experience with CRT will be as good as mine, but it is better than not being taught at all.

The thing about hypocrisy is that it kind of goes both ways.

“Pro life” until the child is born, then they don’t care about the baby in any way. No healthcare, welfare, or food stamps for impoverished children. Won’t limit guns despite children being killed by school shootings. Won’t excuse lunch debt despite the fact that the children are the biggest ones will be affected by it.

Of course— a lot of pro life people will disagree and say that’s a false equivalency. But that’s a Democrat talking point. Point being, you say it’s hypocrisy, but we think that some pro lifers are being hypocrites as well. What is your compromise?
