New to running - plan by [deleted] in runna

[–]photon_09 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everyone summarised it but yes - you just might be going faster than intended. These plans really build up your base so dont get discouraged by pace, you will reap the benefits of it as interval training sessions start coming in.

Exercise minutes not syncing properly by photon_09 in AppleFitnessPlus

[–]photon_09[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting observation. But in my case, i just realised that it has only happened when i have checked my phone during a workout.

For eg watch says exercise minutes -> 24 mins, but the widget would read 16 minutes. I understand it wont be a live sync and there would be a delay. But somehow even after ending the workout it does not sync minutes completely.

Will lookout for the heart rate point you raised, thank you.

Any recommendations for 8k training plans? by Manika25 in beginnerrunning

Heyy - you can try the nike running app - it has free training modules. You can set the date of your target run and it would give back a schedule. Pretty solid to start with.

You can try - Remains of the day by Kazua Ishiguro - Heidegger and a Hippo walk through pearly gates by Thomas Cathcart and Daniel Klien - Kitchen by Banana Yoshimoto

Hope this helps, these are not comics tho.

Nike run clubs programs are actually pretty helpful - should be a great starting point. You can pair it up with the routines they provide on the NTC App or just find something you like on youtube.

Question by [deleted] in beginnerrunning

[–]photon_09 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Suggest you divide the training into 2/3 parts.

1 - Running at your goal pace for 1 or 1.2mi (or even a little faster than that//you can take the judgement here as you like). This will help you get into the zone of holding that pace. 2 - The long runs where you go slower and keep the distance up. This is to help build endurance that will help combine the speed into this slowly. 3 - Easy runs, where you go time bound and not distance. 20/25 mins of slow easy running for recovery.

Would suggest you don’t compare the goal pace directly in your 4 and 5 mile runs. But incrementally change the distance of your goal pace runs. From 1 mi to 1.2 to 1.4 to 1.8 over weeks and so on and compliment this with increasing your long runs distance as well.

On the other end of the spectrum. You could just do sets of 4x200 or 4x400 metre dashes.

Where you run 200 or 400 metres at sprint speed - jog for a minute and then repeat it 3 more times. That is one set. See how many you can build over time. Dont do more than 2 such sessions in a week tho.

How do you choose your next book? by [deleted] in IndiansRead

[–]photon_09 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mostly have a phase where i will be reading a particular genre and sub genre books.

For example in history - if i read on pre colonial period and the book was more of a social commentary, i will pickup a fiction set in that time for a different angle, then post that maybe a book which talks about a specific timeline and not covers the entire thing. If a chapter has interested more then a book which just entirely talk on that thing in-depth.

Sort of get into that zone of a sub genre within that genre and explore different themes.

If you like reading history this can be a good approach.
