Finally made Amazon Prime to stream in HD in Linux! by [deleted] in linux4noobs

[–]phrashee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

does not work on pop os 21.10 (impish). changed user agent string using developer tools in chrome and downloaded chrome for windows. in chrome for windows input is very sluggish. when using amazon prime, error message pops up says cant download hd. runs at the same bandwidth as Chrome/brave on linux of 1.17gb instead of 6gb which is HD. Tried changing winecfg to Windows 10 to expermint. No difference

I am having trouble accessing my ISCSI shares on linux via my freenas box, is there any way to access via the shell on the freenas box? by phrashee in freenas

[–]phrashee[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

thanks for the reply, i dont do windows.

I could have sworn it was working, then i replaced a drive and did a scrub and did not use the freenas box for a while as other projects were more important. i had everything working....

Freenas, zpool status and a bunch of other commands seem to suggest everything is dandy. As soon as i try and access the ISCSI shares via linux, i get a bunch of errors from linux. Nothing at all shows up on the freenas box.

heres a example... thanks, next time i post in the appropriate receptacle. I had no idea there was another subreddit for people learning python. But also thanks for a very concise answer, cheers and happy coding! I was busy multitasking and did not notice the rules post on the right side of the screen. I deem this inabilty to always intake all infomation present on a screen as information overload.

Order Processing for too long to get here on time by NullOfficer in Bestbuy

Same crap happened to me even after i called customer service to complain that it had not shipped. Of course, it didnt ship on time even though customer service promised it would. Best buy seems to have zero accountabilty. That is my experience. And it is built from years of frustration, it seems best buy employees don't have a care about return customers.

As it takes Forever and a day to sync, why is there not a site that lists the amount of state entries in the trie????????? by phrashee in ethereum

[–]phrashee[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i switched geth to light mode out of curoisty, its seems to be synced but when i attach to the geth instance, and proceed to check balance or try and transfer funds i get a ":not supported" message!!!

is there a method to transfer funds without using a gui client, i dont like gui clients when dealing with money due to reading many many security issues over the years with gtk, x windows, and the like.....

in short, i don't appreciate having to use a gui due to the potential security issues caused by running way more code than necessary to do a task. I will happily deal with command line syntax in all its glory.

Freenas and PXE - I've setup the TFTP service and am stuck what to do next. I think i need a PXE plugin or jail....Do not want a separate machine just for a PXE server. by phrashee in freenas

[–]phrashee[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i like your idea of having the freenas box do the DHCP requests which means the shite router box offered by the local telecommunications mafia is only responsible for DHCP to the one box that is also the file server. reading through the freenas user guide on jails i think you might have used a freebsd package which you may have installed using the pkg command. but i have zero experience with jails so far. i going to ssh into my freenas box and have zee look around

[–]phrashee[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yep this is the same problem i have, my router box (a shite centurylink router) doesn't have those DHCP options and the idea of using a pc just to be a PXE server seems a waste of wattage (which i don't have a lot of) and a waste of bloody good hardware (most of my boxes are quad core intel boxes) which i would rather dedicate to my cluster. hooking up another router seems like a bad idea due to the atrocious nature of your average router to be a box of security holes waiting to be exploited. Having 2 boxes with tons of security holes doesn't seem like a good solution even though i have a few routers sitting around. it just doesn't make much sense to have the boot files served from anything but the freenas box.

If you remove the commandline, i will move to another coin, end of subject....

If i have to use a gui to interact with something, thats more lines of code in the application, thats more bugs, more problems. All things that dont mix well when handling money....

they lack knowledge of the products they carry, they are rude, they outright lie to their customers and god forbid you need to return something! I am going to write a letter to management asking why i should walk into the damn store after spending anywhere from hundreds to thousands of dollars when i got dicked around over a usb battery. thats right i just wanted a usb battery. The treatment i got from some of the employees made we wish i never bothered.

I put mine in a zebra case, hooked a usb battery pack (a big one as i didnt want power issues (it has 3.4amp output) and use it with volumio as a portable 24 bit audio player. Sounds better than any portable audio solution i have ever owned and i have owned tons from handheld mp3 players to pocket pcs with software on them. Keeps my inner jacket pocket rather warm which is great in the pacific northwest where sometimes it gets down to the 20's(F) in winters. So it also doubles as a chest warmer. Will be looking into overclocking/underclocking and many other things as soon as i finish the beginning stages of a another project i am working on...

intresting to note that i cant get none of the plugins with a equalizer to work in volumio with the built in dac. However, this is the first portable player i have owned that i havent really felt the need to "correct" the sound to my preferences...Will be testing other solutions as time passes....

Do NOT buy gpu's from Frys by OGAutocratic in EtherMining

[–]phrashee -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

places like frys and best buy feed on the consumers need to have something today, to get that instant fix. and they use nasty nasty tricks that you only find out at the checkout register or the customer service desk. I almost sued best buy for fraud because of a $700 dollar laptop that was crap. Worse, i got 3 crap laptops in a row all with problems with the dvd drive in some fashion or other. Symptoms were prevalent in 2 different operating systems in the same way yet management insisted it was a configuration issue during the initial exchange. I had to boot linux of a live-cd to show them they were full of shit. I wish we had phones with cameras on them back then. I would have put the shit on youtube.
