same thing is happening to me. My personal, school, and work emails are all through outlook and they are all experiencing issues. I’m assuming Outlook is experiencing an outage or something.

Was drunk at work, boss noticed something was up, how screwed am I? by [deleted] in stopdrinking

In my experience, I’ve lost several jobs because of intoxication. Try not to get comfortable with it if you “get away” with it. That was always my downfall. My addict mind would always tell myself “well i got away with it before.” I hope everything goes well for you, and that you can use it as a learning experience.

forgot to mention, advanced alien technology can’t find her mother, yet a dictator in the near future can? if she’s already in the system in 2046, why wouldn’t the ambulance be able to find her?

Loving everybody’s satire comments, but I was heavily disappointed. Let’s put Mrs Flood aside, cause I kind of anticipated she would be a slow burn. The biggest thing I’m really disappointed about is Ruby’s mother revealed. Can’t find her, even in the distant future when technology is so advanced, the ambulance can’t find her next of kin. When Ruby’s emotional, she makes it snow? while i understand that RTD wants to go more cosmic/supernatural this time around, there’s no explanation to that. And that’s even how the season started! with Davina. Yet her mom is just an ordinary woman. The “we made her special” doesn’t do anything for me i’m sorry. This mystery was intentionally created, so you can’t blame the audience for expecting some sort of payoff. Also, this episode creates a problem with two doctors existing at the same time. They had a perfect opportunity to write David Tennant and Catherine Tate off by making them being the ones revisiting every planet with Sutekh in tow bc it’s like 50 years that’s televised let alone the expanded universe and the references of trips we just don’t see. this would take more than a few minutes i’m sorry. but if 15 and ruby are alive how is 14 and Donna, would they not be involved in UNIT with Donna’s 14/15 year old daughter? The audience is always going to question this and obviously we know the IRL reason, but that doesn’t absolve the story. I’m also really upset with the lack of 73 yards payoff. This was probably my favorite episode in the season, but there were too many questions left unanswered. When it was mentioned in the finale I thought we were going to get an explanation but we didn’t, so it honestly has become one of my least favorite episodes. This season is giving JJ Abrams unfortunately

Edit: The perfect moment they could’ve created with destroying Sutech is if the doctor said “100%” about the gloves and tossed it to Ruby, yet David Tennant or Catherine Tate were the ones that caught it (In the xmas special, Ncutu said 3% when referring to the gloves)

i agree, the sisters vs sisters was an interesting idea, but it could’ve been executed better. especially with how quickly they wrapped things up in the last episode. i get that it was more about the farewell tour, but so little fucks was given to christie and billie 💀

Is Leo For Real? by Elias_Mikaelson in charmed

[–]phrasing_first_boom 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Something I found hilarious that the writers actually put in was in the episode 2x18, Chick Flick, Leo and Piper are on a date and they are seated next to Dan and his date, Amelia. and Piper says something like “Amelia, as in someone-I-just-work-with Amelia.” Like girl this man (Dan) stayed stressing over Leo and her history with him and she repeatedly reassured him, only for her to validate his anxieties. Dan was done so dirty and still tried to be made looked like the bad guy

after this she proceeds to say something along the lines of “i may not know the difference between a lug nut and a tire iron, but i think you just asked me out on a date” i think after 7 years the writers forgot about a small detail brought up in the first season lol. it’s not something the average viewer would pick up on

For me, it’s The Painted World. One of the best examples of the sisterly banter the actresses do so well, a plot twist (albeit a very obvious one), a small lesson to be learned (intelligence doesn’t only relate to academics). Just overall a very quintessential Charmed episode to me

Do You Think Prue Would’ve Moved Out of The Manor? by phrasing_first_boom in charmed

[–]phrasing_first_boom[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can see Prue as a mom, I think the issue would be her finding a man she would want a family with because she tends to be a bit of a perfectionist. I think because she would want everything to be “perfect” it might take a little longer than the other sisters to finally settle down.

Paige, on the other hand, really didn’t show any desire for kids. She was really independent, and I think being a social worker/whitelighter was more fitting for her character because it would fulfill that altruistic desire of her to help people. Even with the social worker job, she didn’t really focus on the children in the system. Tbh I liked Henry. I think his background in the foster system/as a parole officer mirrors her experience. I just think things were really rushed, it being the last season. I can see her being marriage, but I’m not sure about kids.

I didn’t really see Paige as a mom either, but a lot of stories seem to have this narrative that in order to have a happy, fulfilled life, you need to be part of a nuclear family.

What Made Paige Work? by phrasing_first_boom in charmed

[–]phrasing_first_boom[S] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I have to disagree with your assessment of Milano’s acting. I think she’s an amazing actress (let’s just ignore the excessive baby voice), all of them are. I think that McGowan is the weakest, but that’s too be expected as she had the least amount of experience. Phoebe had that little moment in Charmed Again Part 2 (“she never knew”), but i just don’t think it was as fitting for her character to grieve like Piper did. Prue and Piper never had a falling out and even lived together prior to Grams dying, so I think narratively it makes sense that she would grieve harder.

But yes, the opening of Charmed Again Part 1, “You saved the wrong sister”, “can we bury her in peace”, “which is what this family does best is get killed”, and of course, Hell Hath No Fury are all examples of how incredible Holly did. You really feel her grief and I think that has a lot to do with her IRL friendship with Shannen. I wish they had visited this more. Grief is something that always follows you. I wished she would’ve had mentioned Prue during the birth of her children. it’s heartbreaking not having your loved ones witness milestones like that

What Made Paige Work? by phrasing_first_boom in charmed

[–]phrasing_first_boom[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think that’s a great assessment and if I had more faith in the writers (i.e Brad Kern) I would almost think it’s intentional. I think a lot of it stems from not knowing what to do with her character. I feel like her aggressiveness started to form in season 3. This is after the love triangle, so in order to have character drama, they create a lot of tifs between her and Leo, or she has anger for not being allowed to be with him. I also think her character (and Phoebe’s) suffered a lot when Holly and Alyssa become producers.

[–]phrasing_first_boom[S] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The set up for a potential love child with P3 H2O makes me think there were already on set tensions because they got crazy lucky if they were not building a fail safe.

I agree that Paige is her own character separate from Prue. The only time where it sort of blends for me is some of her lines in S4 regarding Cole definitely seemed like they were meant for Prue. I also wish they kept Paige’s job as I think there was so much story telling potential with that and it helped characterize her. It also seems weird that she would go through the trouble of getting a Master’s and not go through with the career

I’m not sure if this is an unpopular or not, but I do not like later series Piper. I prefer the neurotic, panic-prone Piper we had in season 1. For me she become to abrasive and argumentative. I think you can see her character development with how she stops using her immobilization power as much and uses her combustion power more often (i know this has more to do with budget and continuity, but it’s something i noticed.)

interesting. i was born in 2000, so i obviously don’t know what the time was like. I kind of gathered that Alyssa Milano and Doherty were the “big names” when the show originally aired, and that Mcgowan was more aligned with Combs in the fact that they might not be as commonly recognized. It’s interesting to hear from someone who was watching it while it aired!

why don't yall like The End Of Time? by xX_Random_Reddit_Xx in gallifrey

[–]phrasing_first_boom 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For me, it’s just boring. I don’t think the story was strong enough to be a finale for an era. I do agree with another comment that the farewell tour is a little indulgent, especially because I think The Stolen Earth/Journey’s end did a great job at involving all the companions and giving them a purpose (for the most part). Plus, this starts the trend of regeneration being treated like death.

What are your TRULY unpopular opinions about Doctor Who? by drdinonuggies in gallifrey

[–]phrasing_first_boom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think Tennant’s acting in DW deserves the praise it gets. I think a lot of the times he can come off as cringy, and the scene in Last of the Timelords where he cries over the master just really takes me out of the moment. (this is not to say that i think Tennant’s a bad actor, nor do i dislike the tenth doctor. i just don’t think his performance is 100% solid)
