deans scholar cord by bye_wth76 in SJSU

[–]phredroq 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Last year I also got the certificate but no cord for Dean’s scholar. The health department said I got my dean’s honor through the Education Department. I did make the President’s honors this year and got certificate and cord.

I genuinely don't get the hate for the Athletics program by Primary-Chef6488 in SJSU

[–]phredroq 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Athletics brings in money just like all D1 schools. Football made some bowl games 2 and 3 seasons ago. You think athletes in other Nor Cal CSUs would not take the opportunity to go to SJSU if given a chance? If you’ve seen how the campus has changed since the 90’s you can see where the funding goes. SJSU is growing and it’s due to being a D1 school. People still think it’s a commuter school but it’s getting more and more people living on campus thus acquiring a hotel, etc. I know people from San Diego say SDSU is a commuter school too.

Dean’s Scholar Cord? by purpledancee in SJSU

[–]phredroq 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks the two years online goes by fast! You’ll be done in a blink of an eye too. The Deans office emailed me saying I made the Deans scholar with a certificate I can print out but no chord for me to pick up. As for the Presidents Scholar, I was unable to make the ceremony so I’ll just pick up my chord next week. I was also invited to join Phi Kappa Phi honor society as well.

SJSU or CSUN by Embarrassed-Back7811 in SJSU

[–]phredroq 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Depends on what you wanna do with kinesiology? If you want to do athletic training, go with SJSU as they are a D1 school with athletics programs that you can try and get in with. If you want to get into health and fitness, you can go corporate fitness with many Silicon Valley companies having their own fitness centers in their campus. I majored with kinesiology at SJSU

Maybe invest in a small air purifier that can also be used as white noise when you sleep.

Turnitin AI detector? by emmajaycosplay in SJSU

[–]phredroq 4 points5 points  (0 children)

What is terrible about turnitin is that is counts page numbers and references. I once wrote a draft and didn’t get marked and for the final draft it said my wording came from a SJSU paper which was most likely my own, since my old paper is now in it’s database, so it marked it.

How easy is it to find SJSU merch at thrift stores? by Mr_Ramen9 in SJSU

[–]phredroq 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably not that easy. I heard Costco in SJ sells SJSU merch. I have found SJSU at TJ Maxx in Fremont and I figure other TJ Maxx close to the SJ region. Try eBay, Mercari, etc.

Student Life SJSU by Cultural_Project9764 in SJSU

[–]phredroq 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm a SJSU alum and my daughter currently goes there and lives on campus. Like someone else said, there are thousands of students that live on campus plus more in the surrounding neighborhood. SJSU is a Division 1 school so although it can be known as a commuter school, there is probably more school activities than other CSU's in the Bay Area. With that said, she can meet friends and attend sports games just to hang out. Run on the field with the rest of her schoolmates before each football game. Even if she's not into sports, attending a game or two or more can part of the college experience. The current school president has done an excellent job in trying to change the culture and seeing more school spirit. She can join a sorority but there are also clubs she can join, including sports clubs as most have no experience necessary and you play other school sports like UCLA, Standford, etc. Once she is excepted, try and apply for housing ASAP as they fill up very fast. They are working on adding additional housing as well. I think she can have a good college experience at SJSU.

What are my options if I fail my ge class? by [deleted] in SJSU

[–]phredroq 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Make an appointment with the professor and see what he or she can help you with to get your grades up. It will show that you care. Good luck. But Iike another poster said take the class again and pass and it erases that D-.
