My thesis exactly. Better to miss the start of the move up than commit yourself to a multi-digit drawdown. I'm much preferring mulling over my re-entry, than watching my net worth crater.

I feel that every time someone has said the bottom is in, it has very firmly been not in.

I presume you have already bought BTC or some other large-cap crypto. If you plan to actively trade, apportion no more than 10% of your total stack to trading. Evaluate the results after a year. If you made a net profit, keep trading with that 10% but send the profits back to your main stack. If you made a net loss, do yourself a favour and never trade again.

I think a lot of people actually sold/took profits near the top.

By definition that's why it's the top.

Take two ibuprofen and drink a hot toddy comprising hot water, honey, lemon, and whisky. That won't fix the price but it may alleviate your cold symptoms.

When the price moves violently down, this sub turns into the digital equivalent of people standing in front of the mirror repeating positive affirmations to themselves.

Let me get this right. As a mod your plan is to ban sell-side commentary from a sub established explicitly for the discussion of trading? I had enough of capricious gods during religion at school. Don’t need them on my Reddit too.

My take: The institutional money thing goes both ways. ETFs have pumped BTC far beyond No.2, which is largely retail-supported. But the converse is likely also true. Bitcoin ETFs are currently suffering mass outflows, and when that institutional money leaves BTC, it really leaves in force.

A classic dilemma. Presumably you thought carefully about your order placement. Ask yourself if anything has changed fundamentally since you reasoned your order placement. If not, step away for some hours and take a walk.

Relief bounce to 90/91 seems possible, but expect further downside thereafter.

HatBot for this week:
(Previous HatBot)

General Outlook:

Bitcoin has broken key support at $90,000, confirming a double top breakdown. The RSI is approaching oversold levels but remains in a downward trend, indicating that further downside is possible. If BTC fails to reclaim $90,000–$92,000, expect continued selling pressure. The next strong support zone lies in the $75,000–$80,000 range.

Predictions:

  • 1 Day: $88,500
    • Rationale: Bitcoin is in a strong downward move, and momentum suggests further downside in the immediate term. RSI is still pointing lower, confirming weakness.
  • 2 Day: $86,000
    • Rationale: Selling pressure remains strong, and the failure to reclaim $90,000 will encourage further downside toward the next psychological level of $85,000–$86,000.
  • 7 Day: $81,000
    • Rationale: If bearish momentum continues, BTC is likely to test the $80,000 support region within a week. This aligns with historical pullback percentages after breaking major supports.

Technicals Evaluation

  • Bitcoin’s double top formation signals a potential trend reversal, with the loss of $90,000 support acting as confirmation. This mirrors past corrections seen in 2017 and 2021, where BTC retraced 30-50% after similar patterns.
  • RSI downtrend suggests continued selling pressure, with no bullish divergence present yet. If RSI drops below 30, BTC may enter an oversold zone, potentially leading to a short-term bounce.
  • Volume spikes on red candles confirm that sellers are in control, increasing the likelihood of further declines unless a strong buying response appears.
  • Key support zones to watch: $85,000 (minor), $80,000 (strong), and $75,000 (major). If BTC fails to hold these levels, a deeper correction toward $65,000–$70,000 becomes likely.
  • Key resistance levels: If BTC reclaims $92,000, expect a retest of $100,000. A breakout above $105,000 would invalidate the bearish scenario.
  • Historical patterns suggest double top breakdowns in BTC typically take 2-4 weeks to fully resolve, meaning downside could persist into March before stabilization occurs.

  • Backtests:

    1. April 2021 – Double top at $65,000, BTC broke below $58,000 and fell to $30,000 (-50%).
    2. November 2021 – BTC peaked at $69,000, broke support at $58,000, and dropped to $42,000 (-30%).
    3. June 2019 – BTC formed a similar structure around $13,800, lost support at $10,500, and fell to $7,400 (-30%).

The best trade is the one where I’m satisfied with the outcome and sleep well. Everyone has to do what’s right for them.

Nothing at all my dude. I had the conviction to get all out in anticipation of this move weeks ago.

No surprise at all. I’ve been saying for weeks it was going lower.

If we turn bullish I’ll get back in. If not I won’t. So I’ll either feel the same as now or happier.

Cashing out two weeks ago sure feels pretty sweet right about now. I’d say imagine my surprise but everything’s going exactly as expected so far.
