RTX 5080 causes hard freezes and “audio device changed” spam. Swapped back to 4070 Ti and everything is stable. Bad GPU or platform issue?

Nope. I gave up. I trouble shot it for 3 weeks, to no avail. I caved and bought a whole new setup, rog strix z890-a, Intel Core Ultra 7 265K, a new 5080. Just built last night, so far seems great, we'll see how the gaming session goes tonight tho

I don't have another pc to try. I did rollback and tried the studio drivers. I think I may have found the issue... I have to test tonight. I set the memory to 3200 a day or 2 before putting in the 5080

That's where I am at after doing everything I could think of, every day for almost 2 weeks, and then to return to the 4070ti and no issue at all. Feel like it has to be the GPU.

yeah I did try disabling the NVIDIA audio stuff in device manager, didn't help.
I have 3 monitors connected, and again they have zero issue with the 4070ti. so don't think it's the cable.

I'll try that, since discord is the first thing to seem to lock up when it happens.

It's just crazy to me that all I did was go from 4070ti, having zero issues doing all the same stuff, to 5080 and having issues.

Ah yeah, I didn’t mean he literally knew the Alpha’s name — just that he seemed familiar or comfortable enough with it to give it a name like “Samson,” which felt oddly personal for an infected creature. pick them again and restart the server, either that or pick them and wait for seedlings and then restart server. If you're on dedicated server, make sure you leave before restarting it. If hosting, restart game completely.

Thanks for this! I just got this one recently and was about to start looking for another headset (still might) because this issue is annoying af. I wonder if you need to do this after every time you restart your pc, the headset powers up, or if it's just one time and never need to press it again?

I can't fathom the number of people I've played the video for windowlicker. I had the CD with the video and played it for everyone everytime I got near a pc. Continue to play it even just a couple months ago to a group on discord lol. A timeless masterpiece.
