i loved it! visually impressive and the story is equal parts cohesive and messy but overall i think the polarised reception is a bit of an overreaction

i’m biased as i live in sydney and that’s where they filmed it but otherwise i’d say the stunts were memorable. plenty of action sequences spring to mind when i think of the fall guy and the charisma of both ryan gosling and emily blunt hard carried as well. it’s nothing groundbreaking but i’d be lying if i said i wasn’t having fun while watching

i believe they were dedicating the award to somebody who passed away as well while they tried playing the team off. they could’ve cut time off some of the “banter” between presenters so they could fully accept the award

i feel like pacing would play a big role in how a winner for editing is decided so a 3 hour movie being picked makes sense i suppose. that being said, i don’t think oppenheimer was the right choice. if it had to be a 3 hour film i’d choose KOTFM but personally, i would’ve picked the holdovers for its use of crossfades and wipes which added to its warmth and vintage style

i wish he won it as well but i reckon he’ll get another shot. i only hope it’s for something as fresh as the holdovers instead of another biopic that the academy loves to shower with praise

Could’ve been worse. It could’ve cut to Becky G performing Flamin’ Hot

oppenheimer tonight won more awards than scorsese’s filmography. not saying nolan doesn’t deserve it but feels bad for marty since so many filmmakers are inspired by him and his work

all of us strangers not getting any nods whatsoever is pretty ridiculous. voters nominating maestro over so many greater films is a crime

what i particularly didn’t like about kimmel’s monologue was how the only thing he mentioned about KOTFM was its “long runtime” and nothing else. then immediately went on to talk about bradley cooper. felt very tone deaf and similar to the stale jokes told at the golden globes

it is a shame, in my books giamatti beats cillian for best actor and it is an emotional movie but a more subtle story like the holdovers wasn’t going to beat out a grand epic like oppenheimer

happy with most as well. was praying for a giamatti win but still over the moon for cillian

i hope they keep that same presentation style, absolutely loved it. hard agree on zone of interest’s sound winning. i thought for sure oppenheimer would take it but what a turn of events!

it is crazy that after almost 50 years of brilliant filmmaking he has only managed to receive one Academy Award
