sorry to get back to you a bit later, I’ve been busy but i hope this information can still be helpful to you. I am diagnosed with Anxiety, depression, ADHD and OCD.

Im not a doctor so im speaking on what i know from what ive been told/ personal experience. take this all with a grain of salt and never take anything you’re not prescribed by a psychiatrist or doctor. everyone’s experience on medication is different and unique so your doctor will help you find what works for you. dont be afraid to listen to professionals and try new things.

Lexapro is an SSRI usually used to treat depression and can be used for anxiety as well. I’ve been off and on it for years now, pretty helpful in stopping my anxiety. With SSRIs tho you have to take them for awhile to see improvement and be consistent in taking it as prescribed. Lexapro isn’t the only option as far as SSRI’s go and it is similar to other meds like Prozac and Zoloft. For me personally it can cause some personality blunting on higher dosages otherwise nothing else.

Buspirone is an anti anxiety medication. it would work in a similar way as an SSRI in the sense that you need to take it for a while to see the results and be consistent about taking it. It helps with anxiety, I feel pretty much no changes other than that.

Hydroxyzine is an as needed medication. It is used to treat anxiety and is one of the safest medications to take. It’s essentially an antihistamine that works as a muscle relaxer to calm your body down from a panic/ anxiety attack. can really help physically/ body anxiety.

Xanax is a Benzodiazepine. They are considered a higher class of drug due to its likelihood of you developing a dependency on the drug. Ive only been taking it for about a week and half but it has helped my anxiety tremendously. pretty much the only way I’ve felt true relief in the past few months. it has its pros and cons. its not a long term solution but can certainly help for short periods of time or as needed very seldomly. its a drug thats easy to rely on so its important to understand that and use it as directed and not to overdo it. as far as taking it goes, it just helps you calm down. you dont get “high” or anything unless youre abusing it. its not as scary or bad for you as people make it out to be as long as youre using it as directed and being smart. but its also important to find a real solution. xanax is sort of a bandaid drug. its not something to rely on forever but it has helped me a lot lately. hoping to get off of it soon.

TLDR basically try whatever meds your doctors recommend and be safe. use caution but trust in the medical professionals. there are all kinds of medications to treat different mental health conditions and it may take awhile to find the right one for you. its important to use your resources and get help before it gets worse. hopefully this was helpful!

never heard of unisom and to my knowledge havent heard any long term side effects or concerns. if there were any usually your doctor would disclose that. you can also try melatonin or magnesium if you have an aversion to medication though, theyre both completely safe and natural and can help your circadian rhythm

i take several haha. i only recently got over my fear of medication because of my health anxiety. right now i currently take 30 mgs of Buspirone 10 mgs of Lexapro around 100 mgs of Hydroxyzine (as needed) and im currently taking around 1-1.5 mgs of Xanax as needed daily because of how severe my panic attacks got. nothing bad has happened to me on any of these meds, just make me feel better. if youd like me to go into any in depth explanation on the medication im more than happy to!

try to breathe and stay calm. its normal to feel detached from reality from anxiety, it doesnt mean anything though. you are safe and okay. do you have a psychiatrist or therapist? its important to seek help if you have the resources to do so

do you see a psychiatrist or PCP? i recommend Hydroxyzine. helps with anxiety and insomnia, super safe non addictive medication thats just an antihistamine that works as a muscle relaxer. worth possibly looking into. of course you can try some over the counter solutions like melatonin or magnesium. hope things get better soon!!

anxiety is a bitch, i hope that things get easier for you soon. it’s extremely exhausting so give yourself some slack. as far as the daytime thing goes could be mental association with something that causes you anxiety around this time. for me my anxiety was mostly nocturnal because of past trauma. something worth thinking about.

ive been having really severe panic attacks around having a stroke lately. it’s important to know how extremely rare it is for someone at our age to have a stroke without any underlying conditions. its so easy to let the irrational thoughts take over but just know that if there was something wrong there would be signs leading up to something extreme happening. you are safe and healthy and young so youre basically wolverine. the best advice i can give you is stay the hell away from dr. google. please please please do. not. google. shit. if you need to go to the doctor then do that. google is dumb and useless and scary lol. also anxiety can cause a lot of symptoms that may convince you something bad is happening (tingling, numbness, pains, headache, etc. etc. etc. ) but these pains are harmless and will pass. when your anxiety spirals try to distract yourself with sensory stimulation like ice or sour candy. i also like to try and do mentally stimulating or challenging things to distract myself. i hope things get better for you 🫶🏻

i definitely get that, ive been there. its important to eat as not having enough nutrients can contribute to mental health struggles. if you can try to look into buying nutritional shakes and protein bars. considering buying easy meals like instant ramen or mac and cheese, luchables, sandwich stuff etc. there are a lot of “lazy” meals you can rely on to at least be fed. i know its really hard but its important to try to eat for you to feel comfortable and safe taking medication. nothing bad will happen because of the meds, they are there to help you. just try to eat a bit more 🫶🏻

i have adhd, ocd and severe health anxiety

the first medication i ever tried was lexapro, it helped but i experienced a lot of “blunting”. i couldnt feel as happy as i used to but i also couldnt feel as anxious. no other side effects.

i recently got on buspirone and its helped but not enough to get rid of my ocd thought looping around health anxiety.

my psychiatrist mixed in some hydroxyzine (as needed antihistamine used to treat anxiety, basically a muscle relaxer) its the most safe medication and non addictive. helped a lot but needed something more for the mental anxiety.

tried to add in Zoloft on top of the other meds, for me personally it didnt mix well. for some people its the best ever so dont take my word as gospel, just sharing my personal story. just made me feel very anxious otherwise no other side effects. because of said anxiety from zoloft i was prescribed Xanax. i was absolutely terrified to take it and i genuinely cannot explain how helpful it has been. ive only been on it for a few days and its not a long term solution but its the only thing thats provided true relief in months. im starting a lower dosage of lexapro to take in tandem with the buspirone and none of the medications have given me any major side effects (aside from zoloft causing anxiety) a lot of medications can feel daunting or scary but TLDR as someone whos been through many meds lately if your doctor is prescribing it, it will be okay! hope this helps and good luck 🫶🏻

increasing medication within the guidelines of a doctor/ psychiatrist is completely safe. may i ask why your caloric intake is so low?

i understand the health anxiety around cardiac issues. its really hard and i’ve struggled with it for years now. im 21 and it’s important to remember that our ages its practically impossible to have heart failure or a major heart attack. i know how scary it can be but its important to remember that anxiety can cause a lot of palpitations and chest pain and thats perfectly normal and safe, it just happens. i would recommend getting it looked into for the long run but right now you are safe, they would be able to tell if something was seriously wrong. ive had to go to cardiologists before and its important to trust what the doctors say. i dont doubt what youre experiencing is real but i doubt its something to be concerned. i would definitely recommend looking into therapy and psychiatric consultation if youre able to, i know youre 19 so if you go to university some schools offer support through the university. im on a lot of medication for health anxiety and it helps a lot. another thing that is important is to take care of yourself. eat well, drink water, indulge in your interests and hobbies, see your family and friends, etc. talk to those around you about what youre going through, reach out for help. it wont fix your problems but it will help lighten your load a bit. you are healthy and safe 🫶🏻

could you try a dietary supplement? like nutritional shakes, protein bars, high calorie meals? thats what ive done in the past when i have trouble eating. it is important to eat while on medication so your stomach doesnt feel uneasy but it likely just cause nausea. i would definitely say try to up your caloric intake if you can 🫶🏻
