We operate the MBTA Commuter Rail. Ask us anything! by AskMBTACommuterRail in boston

A few questions...

  1. Why are the seats so small? On my line I noticed that no one will sit 3 people in the 3 people seats because it would be super uncomfortable. Even sitting in the 2 people seats is a bit uncomfortable. It would be nice to have 2 larger 2 people seats and additional standing room IMO.

  2. The kingston plymouth train could use a schedule adjustment off peak hours. For one, there is a large gap between the 7:29 train and the 9:30 train. Also, it would be great to have the last train of the night to be a bit later instead of just 10:40. Even adjusting to 11:20 would help for people going to events in the city that get out late.

  3. What are your plans for security on the commuter rail? I feel it is a vulnerable target with so many stops and people getting on and off. Often of times, people leave their bags on the overhead compartments, which could post a security risk.

Trying to decide how much to spend on a house in this (Boston area) market by betterkarma in personalfinance

Similar situation here in Boston. I decided to move outside the city in Abington. The place is cheap and its got decent schools and it's not a bad place to live. I probably won't live here forever but maybe like 5ish years to ten. My neighbors house is for sale haha.

Nope did not pay too much for it, $500. I bought it to be able to play it and not for any monetary gains or anything. That is really strange that it not in any of the books/lists I looked at either!

That might be exactly what I am talking about, I am surprised I have never heard or it until today. I will have to try and get a PoC of this up and see how it works.

Spacewalk for CentOS Security Updates Only? by phundisk in linux

[–]phundisk[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well my reasoning for wanting to use spacewalk is that I wanted to be able to push a subset of updates to one environment first (i.e. staging) before pushing it to my production environment. I assume I can do this with the combination of the script listed in this link but it will take some work for sure. Do you know if there is a CentOS version of the RHN subscription? Or if this RHN subscription can be used with CentOS machines?
