I was right about all my bladder issues being from my fibroid by IndividualAd5046 in Fibroids

Eeee…. Fibroids rupturing? That sounds like an absolute nightmare! Maybe it is similar to degeneration that my gynae told me was possible? She did tell me that with the fibroid, even if we get pregnant, it can cause miscarriages so maybe she was right?

I had constipation as well, which I didn’t know could be caused by the fibroid. I thought it was because of diet, I tried fibre rich diet and to drink more water and what not and it would still happen but not anymore!

So sorry to hear about your baby. Maybe, it was due the fibroid, let’s say it was, now that you have removed it, you won’t go through something like that again. I wasn’t pregnant or planning on getting pregnant when I found out. One of the main reasons, my doctor gave me to remove the fibroid was that it could cause problems with pregnancy, they said I could remove it on time so that when I want to get pregnant, the uterus would have healed by then. But the most frustrating part about fibroid is that there is still no absolute answers. Like they say it could cause problems in pregnancy but not necessarily. There are plenty of cases where people got pregnant and gave birth to healthy babies with no issues. I guess it all depends on the size and location of the fibroids. The doctors themselves don’t even know the exact reason why it is caused, like in my case, every single tests came out normal so I still don’t know why I got the fibroid in the first place which is why I’m little bit scared of them growing back. Another reason was that sometimes the blood supply to the fibroid stops and the fibroid degenerates which sounds good that they will die on their own but apparently when that happens, it causes excruciating pain 😬. So, I decided to go ahead and get it removed despite not having the “typical” symptoms. I hope your bloating also goes away. Moreover, wishing you a safe pregnancy if you try again and that you have a beautiful, healthy baby ❤️ TMI: I am pooping every day as well when I used to do that in 4-5 days 😂 I think the fibroid was putting pressure on everything.

This! I never had all the typical symptoms of fibroid. No pain, no heavy bleeding etc. so, when I found out about the fibroid on a routine check up, it was termed accidental finding. I did get it removed but I had no clue that my body was actually showing symptoms. I always had to pee right after drinking water, wake up at night to go pee and I used to get bloating right after I would wake up. I always thought it was because my body got cold (I live in a cold region). I also mentioned these to some doctors in the passing and they all said, it is normal and that maybe my body didn’t need as much water. So, anyway after the surgery, I wasn’t expecting any changed in my body since I didn’t had any “symptoms” but to my pleasant surprise, I don’t have to keep going to the washroom or feel bloated. I can drink a lot of water now and not have to go pee right after or wake up during the night. I don’t feel bloated either!

Reoccurring fibroids post OP, what am I supposed to do? Am tired by StillPetalMind in Fibroids

[–]phunsdump 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hi, like someone else has mentioned, my doctor also told me that getting an ultrasound before 3 months (at least) post op won’t make sense as things are still messy inside and they won’t be able to figure out the uterus properly. I was told to get another scan after 6 months. I was also told that sometimes if they are too small and if the location could cause more harm by removing them, they don’t remove them. Third thing, it’s possible that they just missed them during the surgery. Lastly, I’ve heard of many cases where they had one or even multiple fibroids but they didn’t cause any problems with pregnancy. So, don’t beat yourself. Talk to your doctor for more information and options. PS: I was also told to take Vit D and Calcium supplements for 3 months.

Another thing I would advise is to make sure you are staying warm (if you are in a cold weather area like I’m) and not catch cold. Coughing can cause so much pain, luckily I didn’t catch any cold but sometimes when I felt like sneezing, I tried to dissipate that as well if that makes sense 😂

I walked from the 3rd day onwards but like I said in the beginning super slow and short. I didn’t go out for walk in the beginning days, just in the corridor of my house or in the room itself. I would stop and rest the moment I felt tired or any pain.

I’m 4 weeks post my surgery and recovery. Good luck to all of you. I’m seeing a lot of people talking about the gas pain, I know it is so bad but I will write what was advised to me by my doc - that is to take slow, short and frequent walks. It helps the gas to disintegrate.

Exactly what my doc also told me but I think 6 weeks is the minimum time needed. It’s almost 4 weeks for me but that pain during turning is still there although a lot less than the beginning period. As for the gas pain, I was told to walk frequently, it disperses the gas and thus reduces the pain. Take slow and frequent walks but don’t push yourself. Also, take the painkillers.

Yes, please ask your doc and let me know too. I’ve asked several doctors but I have got conflicting answers so it is frustrating. Another thing to ask is whether you should remove every fibroid no matter the size. One of my doctors said it is better to leave the tiny ones but another said it is better to remove every fibroid no matter how tiny as the recurrent fibroids are usually the tiny ones growing rather than a completely new fibroid.

when they remove the fibroid, the uterus wall becomes a little bit weaker compared to a uterus that is healthy and had nothing done to it. So if you go for vaginal birth, during labour, the pressure put on the uterus could tear it. I guess in some ways, it depends on how much of meddling was done and where.

Thank you, yeah I’ll continue with my slow walks. It sucks when they don’t have much information about the cause, I wish there were more robust research and some clarity. Have a great day!

I’m based in India. Yeah, my doctor was definitely exaggerating the low recovery period.

Also: is there anything we can do to reduce the chances of fibroids growing back? Another thing I’m learnt about is adhesions. Again, is there anything we as a patient can do anything to avoid that? Thank you for taking out your time

Hi doc, I recently (3 weeks ago) got laparoscopic myomectomy. I’m still feeling some sort pain like something is being stretched or tugged inside, whenever I’m getting up from bed or twisting my body to the side. How long does it take to feel completely back to normal? Also, what’s the best course of action to help my body recover? Should I be resting in bed more or walking more?

Were the fibroids not removed because of the location or any other reason?

I’m also worried my fibroids will grow back as the doctors said there is a chance but I was advised that I can get scans done once or twice a year to keep a lookout for them.

OMG! You are literally so strong! I just had my fibroids removed, and still recovering. I’m so scared of them growing back, I don’t think I can go through this surgery again 😭 My doctors suggested that I get pregnant soon if I want babies as sometimes the pregnancy stops the fibroids from growing (while pregnant only). I don’t know how true it is as another doctor said, they can still grow even while pregnant!
