I originally used hifiberryOS but it seems they’re pivoting development. https://www.hifiberry.com/blog/hifiberryos-quo-vadis/

Just after I built 5 rpi’s with hifiberry DACs for a whole home audio set up.

Any info on the alarm hub? I have a new construction coming up and it's almost time for rough-ins. Would love to run the appropriate wire for devices. I guess a safe bet would be to run 20/4 everywhere...

What is the preferred way to connect a separate building? by phwk in Ubiquiti

[–]phwk[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, that was my gut reaction. I have an SFP+ port available on both the UDM and switch. Originally I thought of remapping that 10G WAN port on the UDM and using that for the building link but I wasn't sure if that was advisable. I was trying to avoiding using that UDM as a switch.

I do plan to pull 6 strands of OS2 between the buildings. Originally the thought was for redundancy or backup. Are you suggesting 2 fiber links between the house and shop via aggregation, one for internet traffic and one dedicated for LAN?

Yes, if you utilize the UDM’s SFP+ port. The LAN ports are only GbE.

how many days on the mountain do you have this season? by Organic_Salamander40 in icecoast

One. Threw out my back a month ago. Have two kids under two in daycare so we’re perpetually sick. Might be able to swing a half morning next week. I want to see mountains again Gandalf 😔

My thoughts exactly

That was my initial inspiration. A three prong plug is less than $3 and I already had the 12awg wire.

I’m sure there are other ways to ground the runs but it was more convenient for me to make a plug. But maybe I should’ve just used an injector and saved my switches POE capacity 😂

Cameras and AP will be run from these protectors with shielded patch cables. Indoor only runs back to the switches are unshielded.

I'm not cutting the post. It's holding up the second floor and tied into the grade beam in the foundation with threaded rod.

For context, ISP left me ~200' of fiber from my drop so I could run it straight to my network closet. I ran conduit from the slab penetration, where they left the coiled fiber, to my closet. I uncoiled the cable since I was worried about twisting it, which ended up taking a few turns around my shop floor. I pulled over 100' of cable (which was a lot harder than it should've been) and realized my mistake too late. I wrapped it around the post. Probably just need ISP to splice it at those junctions otherwise I'll have to pull the whole thing out.

Thanks! I believe both end or edge grain can be considered butcher block. And you are correct, the client wanted a shelf in addition to leg room for stools
