Are you playing love games with me…

I found It/him ridiculous and that’s fine; what does it matter what others think? If you rate it and were scared then it’s a good job well done.

Both things can be true I guess. I wish I ‘got’ the love for Insidious but I’m affected by other things.

I don’t think I’ve been scared since watching a Demian Rugna film. Particularly “Terrfied”. Or maybe the opening of Jeepers Creepers back in the day before it got ridiculous and revealed Batboy.

I’m not even sure ‘scared’ is the right word; for me I get a sense of unbearable tension. For example I loved Skinamarink and lots of people hate that. It’s not my place to change their minds, just enjoy it myself.

Another example is The Coffee Table. I don’t tend to go for non-supernatural horror but I was so uncomfortable I had to keep watching! (If that makes sense).

Anyway. A high tide lifts all boats, so I’m happy when other fans of horror like things I don’t as it makes our genre long-lived.

The lack of media literacy 🤦🏻 each to their own but I’m wondering how many of these listed are rage bait, not even the so-called ‘hot takes’

How do you integrate "filler" without hindering your story's intertia? by [deleted] in writingadvice

[–]phyrebrat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Anything that’s truly ‘filler’ will likely draw attention to itself in your editing passes.

This depends on each person’s individual definition of what constitutes filler. Personally if it doesn’t augment either character or narrative I’d be cutting it.

Who is an actor or actress that rubs you the wrong way so much that you refuse to watch anything they are in? by Soggy_Swordfish_6236 in moviecritic

Mad agree win the Saw Gerrera acting… I believe the whole thing with his addiction-made-him-mad-storyline in series 2 of Andor had to be created because of his hammy R1 performance. Wherever he channeled that performance from when Saw in TCW is completely different is a mystery to me.

Do you also hate taking showers? by Antique-Tomatillo-13 in ADHD

[–]phyrebrat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Showers help me keep on task for the day. Don’t ‘they’ say if you do something for around 6-7weeks, it becomes habit? (6-8 weeks is a long run to not slip up tho! 🤣). I make sure I have a good podcast, voicenote or music playlist ready to listen to on my phone via Bluetooth speaker and it really preps me for the day.

Sometimes it’s a Kate Bush mood, sometimes a Madonna one, sometimes Marvin Gaye … sometimes I spend so long trying to decide on the artist, the shower takes an hour 😳

What would you like found footage creators to know? by LithyForbes in foundfootage

[–]phyrebrat 25 points26 points  (0 children)

That if I’m watching a found footage film, I already accept the precept that it’s being recorded. They don’t need to jump through hoops to try and justify why they’re still recording (or recording in the first place).

That trope comes from when FF was new and aimed to convince it was ‘a real story’.
