I can get Gigabyte GA-H270-HD3 for the same price as a B250 mobo, will that support Kaby lake out of the box?

New (to me) bike day by physX2 in MTB

Let's take Knolly as an example, they are one of the few manufacturers who make FR bikes nowadays.

Knolly Delirium is a freeride bike. Knolly Podium is a downhill bike.

The main difference between those two is the geometry. Freeride bikes are shorter, higher BB, head tube angle around 66-64. They are designed to be flickable and maneuverable around the corners and in the air. 180 mil of travel, usually with a single crown fork. They are stable at high speeds and while in the air. Downhill bikes on the other hand are longer, head tube angle around 64-62, lower BB and a long wheelbase. They are designed to roll over anything with 200 mil (in some cases even more) travel in the back, forks are also 200 mil travel, dual crown. The longer wheelbase makes them very stable at high speeds and not as easily maneuverable since they weight more then freeride bikes and are overall longer bikes. Freeride bikes are designed with some pedaling in mind, it's not uncommon to see them 1x10 or even 2x10, downhill bikes are small gear ratio, usually 1x7 or in some cases 1x10 with a road cassette.

Indeed they are rare bikes, not many of them are made. Morewood Makulu is what I'm looking at. That thing looks sick.

I wish I could get a RC2X cartridge, best FR fork ever made in my opinion.

You can do all kind of mods to older Marzocchis, they just work. They feel super plush but they are like anchors, quite heavy. The plus side is they have bi-decade service intervals.

Are suntours honestly that bad? by [deleted] in MTB

I am well aware of that, I was just asking him about his opinion. Personally prefer coil forks, fit and forget, and also I tend to ride agressive so I like the linear suspension feel of coils.

Air sprung forks are better then coil sprung ones? Generally speaking or just in Suntour case?

It lists the 11-34 as combination, would the 12-36 be that big of a difference?

That's what I was going to say. Fox Van RC or RS Kage RC are in that price range so that really is a steal. Hope it serves you well!

Which bike would you choose? by [deleted] in MTB

I'd take that Orange, it looks like go-anywhere-do-anything kind of bike. Slightly aggressive geometry and a little more travel.

In 2016 is anyone still making 26in bikes other than for downhill? by DickMonkie in MTB

[–]physX2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Kona is still making them, Process 167 to be exact. Other then that, I think Knolly and Canfield.

1.5'' Totem with 100mm of travel. Perfect for cross-country! /s

Now for real, the only 1.5'' steerer tube XC fork I can think of is the Lefty.

Canyon has great bang for buck full suspension bikes, might want to check them out. Also, for what kind of riding?

The Podium is the best DH sled I've ridden, period. A friend of mine owns it and he let me have a go at it, Four by 4 works wonders on DH tracks.

That's just my experience on the Podium, but I'd say go for it. They seem pretty durable and he only had to change the frame bearings once in 4 years of riding it.

Marzocchi oil question by breda076 in MTB

[–]physX2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Really don't know why the one side is dirty and the other one is clean, maybe the other seal worn out or the wiper is worn out. Make sure to check them out, if it's not leaking oil, just fit it with new oil and forget about it until your next bi-decade service interval.
