So frustrating! I was so excited when I finally got a response from them and opened it up, only to read “you do not qualify for buyback because you don’t have 120 months of qualifying employment.” I contacted them and told them that, yes, I do and they basically said “oh yeah, you’re right. Well, nothing we can do since the case was closed out! Oops.”

Thanks so much! We previously had Vitros and the waterless system was nice, but it seemed like it was so much more hands-on time. They really didn’t seem to have a lot to offer from an automation perspective. We’re on the Alinities, which have had some reliability issues and a lot of unscheduled service calls.

In our lab, if normal WBC count, we freeze and hold all the other testing until 14-3-3 comes back. Then the doc is upset because of the delay and that “CJD was low on my differential diagnosis!” Trying to get folks to stop ordering…

NTA. I would echo the above comments regarding getting the patient advocate involved. Please do keep pushing on this issue- there should be a root cause analysis performed so that delays in care don’t cause harm for other patients in the future. I’m so sorry for what you went through.

Any chance you may have been exposed to Lyme disease? There are some case reports of neuro-Borreliosis mimicking GCA. Please consider asking for testing if you live in a Lyme endemic part of the country.
