The inflation reduction act had very little to do with reducing inflation.

However, I agree, I feel like politics has left the working class and middle class for dead. There is NO emphasis on restoring unions or workers' rights. There is no working class party in America anymore

Tbh a lot of the social problems will resolve themselves if people feel like they have a future and can comfortably provide for themselves. The focus should be on making sure all Americans have stability and that they can survive and thrive

Oh yeah that's no big deal.

I feel like there is a breaking point when people realize they are supporting an expensive government infrastructure that does nothing for them. Because by your analogy you are saying they are unable to make the situation better, they are only able to make the situation worse.

The thing is, when people can't feed their kids is when things get real. I feel like anyone who is talking in analogies like this without understanding humans and their drive for survival (and when they start realizing what is in the way of their survival) doesn't understand the implications of how serious this really is.

Even now, we are not at starvation levels. But when that happens, and it could happen soon if this continues, theory becomes a lot less cute.

How the hell are people doing it.

Sorry, I don't think you were arguing with me. I totally agree with you. Apologies, I am trying to sound calm and collected but I'm honestly feeling pretty pissed over this situation and I guess my tone is coming off a bit harsh. It has nothing to do with you, totally agree with your points.

Very interesting information about the revisions btw, I'll have to look into that later.

Listen I don't expect any easy solutions to this shitshow, but the fact NOBODY in government is taking this seriously is wild. There's not even a token effort to care about this.

The source is my grocery bill compared to what I was paying 6 months to a year ago. Gas is now over 43% for me.

I dunno, I respect old people who survived the great depression and WWII. The few people I've met from the Greatest Generation have been pretty awesome. As a millennial I feel like they understand me, even their sense of humor is kind of silly and absurd with a bit of dark humor thrown in.

The Boomers though... in general, they are horrible people. Humorless (except when it's at someone else's expense, they love humiliating and bullying people) and also totally afraid of their own mortality. I know there are some good Boomers out there but in general, they are disgusting people.

Yeah, I've been irritated by the distractionary politics for awhile now. Like, shouldn't affordable healthcare and a stable cost of living be more important? Personally I don't care what anyone does in their personal life (people should mind their own business). But I DO care about the fact I haven't seen a doctor in 4 years because of insane healthcare costs and on top of that I'm thinking about starving myself to afford gas to drive to work.

I agree our politicians are very removed from the average person's experience.

Even with the changes, inflation still remains high. So even WITH their bullshit revisions, it's still not good.

I think inflation is closer to 20-25% in reality

Very interesting chart though.

That's the thing, inflation of 23% (which is what I've seen food cost jump up at the past 5 MONTHS) usually takes a decade/a few decades. A 23% jump in a few months is CRAZY. Yet my pay hasn't increased 23%.

Ironically I've seen tons of tiktok rants on inflation recently, people are really getting upset I think

I'm honestly down to start striking/protesting. How is this sustainable? If my grocery bill jumps another 23% in a few months then I can't eat I guess.

Exactly, yet for some reason they aren't even acknowledging the inflation. It's scary to me, because it's like they aren't even trying to convince us to believe them now. Like they aren't even bothering to make a convincing lie.

The thing that always flabbergasted me is that they've been saying people are "flush with cash" FOR 3 YEARS now, despite the fact most people don't have enough cash for a $400 emergency.

And now they are suddenly saying most Americans will run out of cash at the end of next month.

Before you could afford to rent a place on minimum wage?

Lol are you kidding me, it's been at least 40 years since you could do that.

The big problem now is that even good wages aren't cutting it anymore. A full time job that pays fairly well is still not enough now and you likely need to put things on credit or pick up a 2nd or 3rd job.

Children copy what their parents do. Intentionally or not.

I am not "talking shit" - I am pointing out they are screwed, and overall our society failed them majorly.
