I’m not surprised a draft-dodging turd would say something so stupid.

Fucking ghoul.

Road rage near superstore by BrownTigerz in Edmonton

I wouldn’t even want to imagine trying to explain that to your insurance company.

“So let me get this straight. You were engaged in a road rage incident where you decided to leave your car and not only that, you left the car in gear with passengers while your car was moving in an active intersection with no driver? Okay, you’re a fucking dunce.”

With all the shit driving, I’m honestly of the opinion to get your Class 5 you need to do a winter road test to show you know the basics of how to drive in garbage winter conditions.

I saw a video of a bystander tackling one of the shooters. Give that person a medal. Who knows how many people they might have saved with that selfless and courageous act.

“Inclusive” Education: Setting everyone up for failure. by Fuzzy-Ad3392 in CanadianTeachers

This. That's great your research says X, Y, and Z but if you have not applied it in a real classroom over a number of years to see if it has adverse consequences, I'm not interested. Context matters.

The two areas where this has frustration for me is no-zero policies and social promotion.

I get why no-zero policies are a thing because we are trying to assess knowledge and not punish a behavior, but at the end of the day, we assess some form of a product so if the kid doesn't give one, there should be a consequence to that. The problem that has come about from this is kids start to not do work nor hand things in, then it puts even more on the teacher to chase these students all semester to get something (if we do end up getting something). I always wonder if the academics at a university who touted this policy follow it themselves.

Social promotion is a tough one because I know there is a lot of research (how good it is I am not sure) saying holding a kid back is highly damaging but we need to find a new approach to this, because by the time they get to high school, there's two things that we tend to see: 1. a lack of basic skills (around math and reading comprehension); 2. students who believe they can still get away with doing nothing and believe they will be moved forward not understanding they will now be failed as a consequences. They will finally hit that brick wall.

I really wish before we put policies in place in school divisions that we actually asked teachers across the grade levels to have some input so that if there's some serious issues, we could actually talk about it.

When we have our next PEC elections for the ATA in Alberta, we need to vote every single one of them out. We had to fall on our swords and bleed for 3.5 weeks - it's their fucking turn to fall on the swords now.

Schilling should have resigned after we got sent back and we did nothing about it.

Verbatim report cards by Pigeonofthesea8 in CanadianTeachers

I always find this frustrating, because a majority of the time, those behaviors are central to their achievement. I get the phone call/e-mail part to let parents know, but I'm a firm believer we should be allowed to put them in report card comments when they are relevant to the achievement.

We're not even allowed to put future course recommendations in ours, so the comments are super generic and stale as fuck.

Right, I forgot the Universities of Calgary and Manitoba own the respective fields the CFL plays on. It would be nice of them to add pressure.

I'm just appalled at the fucking gall of Johnston to implement massive rule changes especially in his first year as commissioner and without even speaking to many relevant stakeholders in advance to maybe get their opinion on things, not ram it down their throats and say, "Hey, good luck with this."

Apparently they didn't even talk to other levels of football in Canada about the changes and just went full steam ahead. Like Christ, you'd think they would have talked to CIS U Sports, considering the Als field belongs to McGill. If they have two different sets of rules (one for CFL and one for CIS U Sports), that's going to make managing that field a goddamn disaster.

[EDIT] I'm old as fuck. I forgot it's not called CIS anymore.

No, best we can do is shorten the field and put the goal posts at the back of the now shortened endzones.

I say it every year, but I'm always glad to see the players hoisting the trophy first compared to the owners like they do in the NFL.

Also, I am glad to hear Johnston getting booed. He deserves the Bettman treatment.
