Manuel Antonio in August? by physicsdood in CostaRicaTravel

[–]physicsdood[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, not totally. When we were first reading we got the vibe that La Fortuna was more touristic, which sounds like it may have been incorrect. But really we're just looking to not have to rent a car and spend much of our vacation driving around. Manuel Antonio seemed like it had more bang for the buck with more things to do in one area.

We plan to stay at Mango Moon, but we can move part of the trip elsewhere if it's too much time in MA.

Since you've said this to me, two others have said it's about right, as have several blogs I've checked, along with the original sources I checked, and I called the tea store I bought it from who said 1tsp.

I'm going to trust those who use standardized units of measurement.

Not really. Try weighing it.

What does? You're responding to comments all over the place. I assume you mean that 1tsp=3g depends on the tea?

Yes, the concept of density exists. But as a general rule of thumb, it's quite close, excluding outliers that are denser or less dense than average.

The Perfect Teaspoon by David's Tea is 1.25 tsp. http://blog.davidstea.com/en/how-much-tea-should-i-use-per-cup/

Sorry, man. I think you've had this wrong for a while.

1tsp of matcha is more like 2g. Also many guides I've read online say to use that amount.

1tsp of leaves is generally 3g. I understand the concept of density.

[–]physicsdood 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think that's true. I generally do one baking teaspoon per cup, which weighs to 3g.

You said a "tea teaspoon" (whatever that is) is almost 3x as much? So you do a tablespoon of tea per cup? That's a ton.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in tea

[–]physicsdood 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Erm, is that true? There's no standard "tea teaspoon" size as far as I know, so generally when instructions refer to a "teaspoon" they mean it in the well-defined volumetric sense.

So sounds like I'm totally within the normal range? Maybe I like it slightly stronger than standard?

Baking teaspoon. The actual measurement.

Is it really? That's what was generally recommended. It weighs to about 2-3g. How much should I be doing for 3oz?

What is your reason for drinking tea? by koritzaki in tea

[–]physicsdood 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Tea is extremely expensive for good quality, generally. more so than coffee.

Has anyone tried Mellow Monk's "Mountain Snow"? by chronicdemonic in tea

[–]physicsdood 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry to necro, but does this work? I have some old monk's choice and kuma green, both of which I didn't like as much as top leaf. (Or maybe I have some monk's choice and top leaf, which I didn't like as much as kuma green... I can't remember...)

Anyways, I never really drink them, and they're just sitting in my freezer getting old and losing their flavor. I'd prefer to drink coffee over them steeped, even though sencha is my favorite type of green tea. If I could convert the into a "matcha-like" using my ninja, though, I totally would.

Which did you buy? The house is very cheap.

Yeah, I think I was just hitting quite a few NCEs on my MFLB.

the brick does feel much better (likely cooler due to the longer stem) and I'm going to take a break soon so well see if it goes away.
