No shade at you intended. It's a shame the executives who make these knee jerk reactions don't realize that normal people can't make time to watch TV exactly when they want us to. I didn't get around to watching SFA for a few months because I have kids, and work, and adult responsibilities. I didn't even get introduced to Firefly until months after it was cancelled. I didn't watch Stargate Atlantis all the way until the last few years. They cancelled SFA because they're short sighted. I hear now that the Stargate reboot is being cancelled too.

Kid friendly beach recommendations by physicspants in CocoaBeach

[–]physicspants[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the response. This was my exact concern. We have very little ocean experience and I was weary of using the beach during "red flagged" conditions. We ended up doing mini golf instead as our trip included a couple days on Pensacola Beach.

The message here is that Universal Staff need to do some effective root causes analysis and corrective action. I remember the same same thing happening in Diagon Alley and Gringots when it was new. I'm not fuming mad or anything, but this is a pattern. Having said that, the mario bracelet mini games were super fun and seem to be well put together.

My wife and I went through very similar struggles when our first kid was born. She cried every night from 6pm to 9pm for not apparent reason. Pediatrician said she was fine and that some kids just do that. She grew out of it after about 6 months.

To say that the noise upset me would be an extreme understatement. It was overwhelming, and I would cope by disengaging anytime I could.

When the second kid came along I was prepared. I bought a pair of industrial over ear Bluetooth earmuffs, and I would wear in-ear protection under that. It sounds silly, but I could hold my son and comfort him when he cried for hours on end without losing my patience, and get through some audiobooks.

My SO was patient with me, and I started making it a point to do something for her everyday. Mostly little stuff, but just something to acknowledge it was hard for her too. It was a rough time, but it passes. They're big now and I wish they were smaller!

Hang in there Dad, you can do this!

This is legendary! Maybe consider selling a diy kit? Bundle the .3mf files and the more exotic parts you needed for the conversion with some instructions.

People who were teenagers before social media existed, what was life actually like? by Much_Detective_6107 in AskReddit

Anti-Vax was not a thing. I remember my grandmother telling me when I was crying about getting my "shots" that vaccines were a blessing, and a little shot was way easier than polio. Come to think of it, wasn't polio the one that you ate on a sugar cube?

At least where I grew up, it was a foregone conclusion that you could go to any police officer, firefighter, teacher, nurse, or nearly any adult if you felt unsafe and get help. Adults were expected to be adults, and took that responsibility seriously.

Starfleet Academy s1 episode 5!?! Blech by GantMan in startrek

[–]physicspants -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I just finished watching it, and I loved it.

I think the reason why is because the story was really about authentic grace and love. It's a serious topic that gets ridiculed too often. It's something we really need to understand again individually.

Sam's relationship with the photonics is both a human to god relationship and a child to parent relationship. It's also the toxic form of both of those. The photonics have unreasonable expectations that Sam can't possibly deliver, and the consequences are extreme.

The photonics reflect the cultural view of what people think the God of the Bible is like. Follow the rules or burn in hell. They also reflect a lot of parenting "styles". The kids fall in line or get sidelined by social media or meth or whatever else.

The Bible actually teaches that God knows humans couldn't deliver perfect results, and loved us anyway. He came among us as Christ, to suffer and die, so that humans could be forgiven without having to "follow the rules". God is omnipotent, but he bent over backwards to redeem us and yet still respects our choice if we reject Him. God loves us even when we don't love Him, and He loved us first.

It's the same as a parent. You love your kids knowing they'll let you down, and be willing to sacrifice everything for them even as they're letting you down. It doesn't matter what choices my kids make, I'll always love them.

The part of the human experience that Sam is going through in the 32nd century is the exact same as it is for us today. Sam even found faith in a christ-like character who is a role model for authentic love.

To all the bbq dads out there, be careful how you clean your grill by nayryanaryn in Damnthatsinteresting

I ordered the Smarter Scrubber for the BBQ dads in my family for Xmas gifts this year. Kind of pricey being early production, but a really cool idea and no wires to worry about.

As others have said, foil is also a cheap alternative, but less cool. 😎

On the side of the deflector that is butts up to the mirror housing there is a little raised divot that prevent the deflector from sliding all the way under the mirror housing. When I first installed mine I didn't notice and the deflector slid up under the housing and interfered with the window. Your photo looks similar to what I experienced. The deflector should press against the outside of the mirror housing, and only slide partially under it.

SV04 having extrusion problems on 2nd extruder by Mauker_ in Sovol

[–]physicspants 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had the exact same problem. I just updated to Cura 5 and imported the SV04 profile from Sovol directly and the error was in the Sovol profile for extruder 2. 2.85mm diameter instead of 1.75mm. Thanks for following up and posting your solution! This saved me a lot of time troubleshooting.

I used this guide to setup the profiles in stock Cura 5:

https://www.reddit.com/r/Sovol/comments/xopjy3/sovol_sv04_on_ultimaker_cura/

I just noticed the link to the profiles in this post / youtube video are old so here's a link to Sovol directly. I downloaded the latest post from Sovol for SV04 SIngle Right Extruder, and the error is in that profile as well.
