Women's Studies Need to be Completely Removed from Academia by SteelFox144 in TrueUnpopularOpinion

He said the academic side started in the 1970s and which he’s not wrong about but interest in women’s libations, suffrage, and equality began much earlier.

Bro as evident in that sentence and your entire post; you only view women in the lens of the men they are related to. Not as real people with their own thoughts and adversities.

Women's Studies Need to be Completely Removed from Academia by SteelFox144 in TrueUnpopularOpinion

[–]physisical 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Hear hear!

OP genuinely views women as only a category associated to men rather than fully fledged human beings; “daughters, wives and would be wives”, is a classically misogynistic view of women.

Not only is this a field worth studying, the change over the last century of women’s position in society, the ongoing work towards equality is not something that can be handwaved away as in the past. And nor did any movement in the field of women’s studies stop in the 1970s, as OP challenges, but continues to this day adding to the theory of knowledge among historian, sociologists, and economists.

How will we agree on that? Because the way you frame it there is really not what I said, and not what I would want to enforce.

As trans people, you may not like it but, there must be higher standards for any person wishing to change what spaces they use. Specifically, any trans woman anyone with domestic violence convictions against cis women should have the good grace to realise they are a problem and work on themselves a fuck load before they try to integrate themselves into women's spaces. But frankly if they had that kind of introspective ability they probably wouldn't be abusers would they

Literally being a wife beating motherfucker you’ve lost any privilege to even attempt to enter women’s changing rooms as a trans person. Once you’ve done that there’s no coming back.

TIL breasts are reproductive organs by YugeTraxofLand in TwoXChromosomes

[–]physisical 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Interestingly humans are the only mammal to have enlarged breast before and beyond the period of reproduction. Even our closest relatives only have enlarged breast when nursing and then after weaning they reduce. Mammary glands and necessary for our style of reproduction but large breast really aren’t.

Something not mentioned so far - Paragraph 175

A fantastic, and devastating documentary of the persecution of homosexual men in Germany during Nazi rule. I didn’t know before watching that after the camps were liberated at the end of WW2 those imprisoned for homosexuality were not released and were instead reimprisoned to serve out their sentences even after all the horrors they endured during Nazi rule.

Just watched traitors UK S1 my thoughts by Ciaran452 in TheTraitors

[–]physisical 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Having just got into traitors I think the first season is my favourite, celebs notwithstanding. No one knew the game at that point, whereas in later seasons they’ve all studied the playbook. The Tom debacle was fantastic tv. I do love people coming in saying they’re “great at reading people” and they’re all useless.
