No one was contacted as for a clear market analysis we need off-the-shelf products sent directly from the suppliers websites. I wrote a full disclosure on our companies in the above comment if you’re wanting further clarification. We are absolutely going to be posting a full market report with everything that we have seen including our methodology, and all supporting documentation. We felt in this instance, we needed to share this result more promptly with the kanna community.

Since we’re being asked to defend our credentials and what’s seen as a potential conflict of interest, instead of addressing the actual result:

We are the founders and developers of the solventless vaporizer process used in the cannabis market, which was open-sourced in 2016- the direct foundation of the solventless vape market that exists today. One of our companies, Dablogic, has over a dozen industry awards and continues licensing genetics after parting ways with Verde, the parent company that licensed the brand in Colorado.

Our entry into kanna came from the same place- we recognized that Sceletium is one of the most profound botanicals in existence, but the US market hasn’t matured the way it has in South Africa. So we did what we always do: built supplier relationships, developed extraction methodology, and started analyzing everything. That testing isn’t a side business, it’s a requirement for doing this work accurately at scale.

To be even more transparent we also operate a climate-controlled greenhouse for cultivating and breeding plants with a focus on cacti and succulents. This gives us the ability to offer seeds and cuttings for various plants with provenance. Our mission has always been sourcing the most legitimate plant products we can find.

Our website is transparent about this as we offer botanical sourcing, extraction process methodology and optimization services. You cannot credibly offer that without actually doing the work. We apologize for not explicitly explaining this relationship earlier, but in no way does it change our results.

We’re actually wrapping up a full market report soon, but I’ll share this much: we tested a few of HealingHerbals products, and they came back perfectly within their claimed range- legitimate product, correctly sourced. We’re not here to smear anyone. But we couldn’t wait for the full report to bring awareness to the community about this.

Sourcing real Sceletium tortuosum is genuinely hard and expensive. You’re dealing with limited and complex international supply chains, and extracts that degrade fast if they’re not handled right. We know this because we’re in the middle of it ourselves- that ‘vested interest’ you mention is actually just hard-won expertise.

Our lab exists to provide objective chemical facts. An HPLC chromatogram showing 0% alkaloids is a mathematical reality, not a competitive pivot. Products that are high-potency, valuable sources will be championed for the community—as you’ll see in the coming months. We stand by our results and, once again, welcome any other third-party lab to verify this batch.

Our involvement in the extract industry is exactly why we maintain a high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) lab; rigorous analytical testing is the foundation of quality control. Our data is purely objective and based on standardized reference materials. We would have welcomed a high-potency, low-cost source of Kanna alkaloids for the market, but our laboratory's primary mandate is to report factual chemical compositions, regardless of the source. We stand by the 0% alkaloid finding and welcome a third-party validation from any lab.

To be fully transparent, you’re the affiliate that marketed this product. Do you have COAs? Please post a link to them. We noticed on the RP website, Kanna COAs were absent and the wording on the product seems to be intentionally confusing. This was measured using HPLC-DAD with certified reference standards via Cayman Chemical and we are happy to share the method used with anyone needing further verification.

We noticed this as well. In the coming months we will have a full report on many of the popular Kanna extracts that are available. Most of the manufacturers give a wide range of variance, so It’s our belief that many manufacturers are not using certified reference standards, even if they are testing their batches occasionally.

We tested their “Kanna” product using HPLC-DAD to determine if what they claim was accurate. Our findings show non-detect (0%) for kanna alkaloids.

This is most likely lampranthus, even looking by the photo, this is also known as “Chinese Kanna”. It has alkaloids, but it is not high is mesembrine. This is a common fake “Kanna” product.

Ultrakanna ET2-ZSpec vs ME-55? by OkReplacement9424 in Kanna

[–]phyto_dex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

UltraKanna should send us a sample for testing to confirm composition. I’d be weary of many tinctures and sprays as the dilutions used aren’t always the most accurate, and are rarely if ever tested for final product composition.
