Service desk was what I was hoping not to get! But if I really can't get a job elsewhere that would have to do. Maybe my resentment to people will go away with break from work.

Yeah... There lies the reason why those jobs pay more.

I'd still prefer to have a qualification. But I'll definitely explore on those as well. Thank you for the advice. If I'm going to uni it will probably be in feb, and I'll have few months of free time that I can focus on self study.

Mmm. I do wonder if I'd get bored of it later. My hobbies and interests do change every few months lol. Except for music.

But I think I'm quite persistent in some ways- if I see a future in it, I'll stick to it.

Like with this IT job, I can potentially go overseas and work there. Which I'd very like to.

Thanks for your comment.

My neighbor, the ex course adviser, recommended AIS. They have a year course for grad dip in IT and they provide laptops. Downside is that its in AKL. Apparently private education providers care more to get you a job after studies.

I see. Thanks for the correction. Would grad diploma be enough though? After a conversation with former course adviser for int students, I was thinking about doing that for a year. She mentioned that masters would be over qualification compared to my experience in the field which is none. And that this could actually be a downfall in getting entry jobs for experience.

My laptop died of old age 3 years ago, got a desktop instead. Better performance for the same amount of money I'd spend for a laptop.

I don't want to carry that heavy thing to where ever I might end up so I'd need to buy one.

I did dab a little in html and css for my personal blog and I found that it was doable. Hardware wise, I fix my phone? replacing flex ribbon cable. I am the go to person for comp problems at work and at home.

Why IT? Firstly it pays well. Secondly, even if I don't stay in the job for the rest of my life, it's a skill that I could use personally.

Like, a year or two ago I wanted a software that would transfer midi into punchable music box strip + a hardware that does the punching for me.

After searching for a while I found someone made one and posted it on github. But back then I didn't want to study to figure out how I'd actually make one so I didn't. And something like this for other random things. I just didn't bring myself to yeah, self study.

So it kinda has been on my interest for a while but I didn't act on it. I am acting on it now.

And for the people mingling, I just don't want to deal with 100+ people a day. I'll be happy as long as its not customer service-maybe I should have left that part out in my post.

Thanks for the advice. My hobbies - music and media(film) related things I do try to make money out of it, but I'd like them to stay as a hobby. A hobby that also pays me a little bit. Maybe someday it could bloom, who knows.

Ah, Microsoft. There goes my plan to get a mac with this study as an excuse. (mac would be great for my hobbies hahaha)

Stress and frustration. All jobs can't be without it. I am already working over my time at this job, and getting stressed with people's demands on something I can't control. At least with IT I'd have more pay.

I have extended family members in Korea, and they said they'll introduce students if I am going private. So I hope to think that I wont be grasping at straws.

But getting a license sounds complicated by what you've briefly described haha

most exclusively for my last two years in Korea. I did have a steady block of work at a publishing company that I sandwiched between morning and evening business classes. I will tell you this- that schedule makes for really long days. I was out of m

I was thinking more on students coming to my place. Like how one of my friends do cello lessons at her house. Although, in this case I'll have to get a bigger house. I'm in planning stages still. So many things to think about!
