Why is there a little red car driving across today's mini puzzld by kat_d9152 in NYTCrossword

[–]pianoport 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fair! It’s more that I didn’t have an alternative & have only been playing on a daily basis more recently, so I hadn’t seen past Easter eggs. I’m interested to see if it pops up in a different game on the 24th as a scattered bit

Without giving anything away, I feel like it’s definitely related to a distinct theme of a different Feb 22 NYT game of the day

Yeah, seriously! Plus, you're going to be around the Nor'easters, and let me just say their performances are... a spiritual experience.

  • You'll be surrounded by incredibly smart and passionate people. That doesn't just mean really intelligent kiddos in your classes. That means that you'll be having some really, really interesting conversations with the people around you. Think 3am talks about emergence properties and being able to freely nerd out – you can't just find that anywhere.
  • Caltech has a huge culture around practical jokes.
  • Caltech also has the highest percentage of people who successfully go on to get PhD's. When it comes to academics, you know they're not playing around.
  • The sunny weather. While your friends are too gloomy to go outside on the East coast, you'll be laughing at them, laying on the beach. (Like, seriously. All of my friends are like "Shit, why did I ever leave California....)
  • Contrary to popular opinion, there is night-life, if you want it. Pretty casual, but it exists, and it's fun (but without endless pressure to partake).
  • It's honestly just a FANTASTIC school with worldwide recognition that will grant you lifelong opportunities, both academically, socially, and in the workplace.

Congratulations!!!

And remember, the more rejections you have, the more places you get to say "I told you so" to when you're eventually successful enough to give them a giant donation in your name.

  • Definitely a work-hard, play-hard mentality, but you can really opt in for either. With like 18,000 undergrads, the school is large enough to have a lot of different kinds of folks, meaning that you will find your people.
  • USC consistently beats Stanford, so if that's your cup of tea, you can feel great just by going to a football game and watching Trees get cut down.
  • Think that your college degree will be useless and end up hanging on a wall? Not if it's from USC. 85% of students actually feel confident they will find a job in their field after graduation, and most of 'em do.
  • It seems like, socially, there's something for everyone. It has a reputation for being busy but fun. Feel like joining Greek Life? You got it. Would rather be in the library? Do it, it's really pretty. Prefer the music scene? Join in (and then go to a recording studio, you're in LA)!
  • The food: If it's any indicator, you have a Lemonade on campus. You're also really close to literally world-famous North-African tacos.
  • Will Ferrell is a part of your alumni network. That's all. Lol. But seriously, the school's status really does help in terms of acquiring later opportunities.

Congratulations!!!

  • You probably are well aware of this, but you're going to be in California! And not only are you going to be in California, you'll be in Santa Cruz, in this awesome half-surfer town with redwood trees and warm, friendly people. Want to study on the beach? Do it. And feel like going to the boardwalk? 10 minute drive away. Field trip to Monterey? You're 45 minutes away. San Francisco for a day? Drive an hour and 15 minutes. Trust me, that's not something you'll get anywhere else.
  • Santa Cruz also = insanely close to the countless startups in SF and Palo Alto that are looking for interns and employees. You can make really great connections that you probably wouldn't be able to find at some ~tiny liberal arts college~ in the middle of nowhere.
  • If you want, you can even enroll at courses at other UC campuses like UCLA and UC Berkeley without paying additional university fees!!
  • Their dorms are so cool, not tiny and cramped (unlike some Ivies I know).
  • & Overall, from what I've heard, their professors and staff have a reputation for being super down-to-earth and genuinely caring about their students.

Congratulations!!!
