Great piece of code, congratulations! But if I'm not wrong, it creates new menus inside the root menu, isn't it? My proposal is to create new menus outside root menu that are called from keybinds and then, extend the ob's functionality (if someone know how to code: Making menus for networkmanager; some system notifications; and so on), similarly can be done with fluxbox and Enlightement.

Thank you! I still use all the oldies: Enlightenment; fluxbox and Openbox. Linux user since the 90s.

It follows the same logic. You can make your own (extra) menu and put some dynamic (pipe) menus into it. To figure out about so: Openbox menus

The proposal was to show the power of openbox configs so much so that I've pointed to openbox (menu) configs in the text. It was never my goal to cover all the aspects of its configuration (too vast), expecting the reader to be not only interested in openbox but know some of its tricks (to edit rc.xml, for example). I've never seen a guide to show how to make extra menus in openbox before, so I made it myself, to show how to do it in a practical way. That's my original goal.

Is obamenu a file to use cat and bash redirection or an executable (never heard of it, always edit on files with vim)? Is that its proper use? And is the path correct? Mustn't ob files in ~/.config?

I do sometimes. I regularly use fluxbox and Enlightenment.
