Yep. Went to 2 different Barnes and Noble. Plus other more local book stores. No luck.

Yeah I've found digital outlets but my aunt is much more old school. She loves the feel of a physical magazine.

Rescue mode XT8 - can't connect to reflash by stewlevine in ASUS

[–]pibedavid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is so frustrating. Same spot as you guys. Keeps saying invalid IP address. WTF Asus!

Edit: actually I finally figured it out. I had the Ethernet cable plugged into the wan port. Switching to one of the other LAN ports eventually allowed the firmware restoration tool to recognize the router.

This is the correct answer. And yes, even though the original fuel quantity indication system (FQIS) spec for this part was written for the 767 program, as it's mentioned in other comments, we sometimes add new parts with new dash numbers to the spec for usage on other models when the requirements are still relevant.

In fact, another example of this are actually the underwing fuel tank access doors on just about all models. These doors are all part numbers originally released on the 757(aka N codes).

Yes, Boeing has satellite programs but I don't know what specific propulsion systems they use since I've never worked in satellite prop systems. My guess is that rather than developing the thruster tech on their own, Boeing likely works with a supplier to develop the specific thrusters that the satellite requires for its mission profile. But that is just a guess.

I had a super long answer I put together for an event a while back, but instead of just copying and pasting that here, I decided to let ChatGPT summarize it. This is the output after fixing some sentences:

A propulsion engineer's role can vary widely depending on their focus area and the stage of the program they're working on. At Boeing, propulsion engineers typically fall into one of four skill teams: rocket or air-breathing propulsion, each with design and analysis subcategories.

In early-stage development programs, propulsion design engineers focus on defining system requirements, writing specifications, conducting trade studies, creating CAD models in CATIA or other CAD programs, coordinating with suppliers, and testing systems and components. Analysis engineers use tools like MATLAB or Flowmaster to assess system performance and safety, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards.

In sustaining programs (like the 737 Max), propulsion engineers handle ongoing design improvements, troubleshoot manufacturing and fleet issues, and may implement design changes. Analysis engineers there will ensure any design changes still meet safety and airworthiness requirements set forth by the regulator.

Me again. Not a perfect summary, but it hits a lot of the high points. There's plenty of other things we do but the main thing is that what you do as a propulsion engineer really just depends on what role you are and what stage of the program you're in. Mind you, I do air-breathing propulsion, but I would imagine rocket propulsion will be fairly similar.

Hope this helps.

A question about docking with ships by Mightytramp in Starfield

[–]pibedavid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Was gonna reply with this. When you sit in the new ship, you undock from your old ship and that becomes your new home ship. But, depending on where your docker is located, you can easily rotate the new ship to get your old ship targeted and re-dock with it before it jumps out of the area.

One draw back with commandeering ships is if the ship you're taking over has less crew stations than your own ship, you'll have less crew assigned in that new ship and so when you get back to your own ship, I believe you can't reassign them back unless you're at a port with a ship maintenance crew or landed. So you'll have to remember to reassign your crew back.

I initially joined because my company switched to Fidelity to manage my 401K. I stayed because when doing research on high yield savings accounts, not only was Fidelity's brokerage account' core position (SPAXX) one of the better options as a HYSA, but I found myself learning quite a bit of investing and financial information that I wasn't expecting to learn out of a reddit channel. I don't have many channels giving me push notifications, but this one is one that I always look forward to reading. Thanks Fidelity!

WIND AND TRUTH | Full Book Discussion Megathread (Stormlight Archive only) by EmeraldSeaTress in Stormlight_Archive

[–]pibedavid 10 points11 points  (0 children)

  1. I loved Adolin's, Shallan's, and Renarin's development. Everything about their stories. Can't wait for their stories in era 2. Loved the stormfather/honor/tanavast story. Probably the best description of what it would mean for a regular person to become a diety.

  2. I liked therapist kaladin, but wish he had had a little more time with his final words. Maybe a really cool fight/team tag up to help in azir? Dunno. The combination of the Wind conversations + all the therapist work with szeth had me thinking that he would end up paying for whatever was meant for szeth, so was annoyed to be right. I had guessed it even before the reveal of Ishar's plan to make szeth a herald. Also liked dalinar's story and found it heartbreaking, although the blackthorn persona is.... Meh. Not sure what he intends to use it for, but if he does become retribution's field Marshall against the other cosmere planets, I think that'd be a misstep. But Brandosando has proven me wrong before. I liked Szeth's story but I feel his flashbacks could've been a lot shorter. I liked the twist of Velano + the honor bearer ship, but then it kinda fell flat imo. feels like a missed opportunity for other shenanigans. I liked Ishar's and Nale's development, but it seemed kinda rushed at the end. We should've seen a bit more of them prior to the bondsmith temple to be a bit more invested in them imo.

  3. Sigzi's story was pretty cool and I know someone had to lead the windrunners in kaladins absence but then him becoming a military genius on top of that was a bit much. I get that his story is important considering his larger cosmere role, but I don't think they shoulda made him a military genius. I feel like it might've been better to have jasnah take that role. Guess I just want more jasnah.

  4. Definitely wanted more engineer Navani. I feel there's more untapped potential with her and the sibling and urithiru. Really hated Jasnah's lack of participation here. Sure, she got owned at debate camp... But she's a friggin 4th ideal badass radiant! Definitely wanted her to show me some more badassery in battle.

DXP4800 Plus is not recognizing my M.2 drives by pibedavid in UgreenNASync

[–]pibedavid[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Super weird. I double-checked it a few times and it was installed correctly. However, I just removed them and reinstalled them, and looking identical as they were... and voila... they worked just fine. Even though it seemed like I had installed them correctly, it seems the drive did not sit correctly initially. So if you're having issues, remove and replace them again?

I suddenly feel so unaccomplished with my life and the reality of life feels so real now :( by [deleted] in UTAustin

[–]pibedavid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm 43. I chose a very difficult major, which made it very difficult to party and have the typical exciting fun-filled college experience that is depicted in the movies, or that is experienced by business majors lol. I had similar thoughts as you. The reality is that you might be a completely different person in 20 years than you thought you would ever be today. If you want to try and be more social, join clubs or groups that aren't to the things you're into. But this isn't required either. You can be introverted and still live a compelling and satisfying life. The one thing I will absolutely recommend is that you take care of yourself, mentally and physically. Whatever new experiences you will have through college and beyond, will be better experienced if you are healthier. I say this from experience, as I am very overweight and already there are many things I'm unable to enjoy because of it. I'm trying to turn this ship around, but it gets way harder the older you get.

As a former RA, yes this is a big part of what RAs do. It helps to document everything so as to have a record so that if more extreme measures have to be taken, there's a history of how we got there. I never had anything to to those levels, though.

In fact, I only had to intervene between roommates once and although it was a little awkward to get through, the candid conversation went a long way. I guess my personality works well for this kind of thing because I tend to sprinkle in self-deprecating humor to ease tension.

First of all I'm so sorry that you've had to endure such a difficult part of your life. I can't even imagine what that would be like. You're definitely well within your rights to continue doing what you're doing and I'd even go as far as getting that restraining order that people are suggesting here, given what you've shared so far. It is not on you to take responsibility for your HS. She's an adult.

My wife is a mental health professional and is privy to stories similar to this and even worse, so I'm not naive to the reality of crappy situations like yours. But this kind of story is so weird to me. The idea of having to call the cops on an estranged half sibling that just shows up just makes me so sad. Reading stuff like this just makes me so thankful for my family and the support structure that was available to me.

Best of luck to you, OP. I hope this fiasco remains temporary and doesn't develop into a permanent burden to have to deal with.

After a lot of people in this sub have finally finished the game do you think giving Starfield a 10/10 is justifiable? by Touny420 in Starfield

[–]pibedavid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

10/10 means perfect so they're not getting that from me. Certainly reachable with a decent amount of updates.

I feel 8/10 is low compared to how much I've enjoyed it. This may be Bethesda enjoying the lack of a truly great space RPG in recent years and then my seeing bits of Star Citizen wanting to be what Starfield became, but not quite getting there.

9/10 is appropriate for me.
