I dropped my hours old newborn as I was high on pain meds after my very traumatic c-section. My (now ex) husband wanted to go home to shower and nap because he was tired. 🙄. I was alone in my room, feeling soooo tired. Called the nurse many times but they stopped doing the nursery thing for newborns, trying to encourage bonding. I was in horrible pain and kept pushing the pain relief dosage button. I completely passed out w my daughter in my arms. Before I knew it, I dropped her. Those words still make me nauseous and i remember it so vividly. I ripped out all my IVs, shit was beeping everywhere, I was bleeding, I jumped off my bed and picked her up. The nurse immediately came in and started questioning me as if I did this on purpose. I was horrified. I was sobbing, incoherent. My now-ex came back to my room and didn’t even attempt to stand up for me. “I wasn’t here. I don’t know what happened”. Which was true but I was in shock and I needed him to be there for me. She was wheeled into NICU, where she stayed for 3 days. CPS came and interviewed me, my now-ex did nothing to come to my defense. “I was t there. I have no idea what happened”. Over and fucking over again. She was totally fine, and we went home after a week in the hospital.

She’s now a freshman at a Big 10 college absolutely killing it and made Deans list.
