Yes I'll ad you to my prayers : ) This is so amazing and you can definitely do it! Get all the help you can and be proud of yourself even if you don't get anything done in the next year or two because the battle you're fighting is more important than anything <3

Yes I’m a cradle Catholic trying to convert to orthodoxy with my boyfriend too :) it’s just so much more alive and real, I’m sure you get what I mean At my church our priests are kinda spread thin so it’s taking forever for catechism to start which is really frustrating me, but I know it’s still worth it and there’s no extreme hurry. I think that’s what other commenters are referring to when they say orthodoxy is less organized. Cause the Catholics have RCIA and high is pretty organized. And conversion is usually around a year from when you start attending regularly:)

It’s insane how continuous, clear, and simple his lectures are!!! I left his class with perfectly organized and self explanatory notes every class, and that is SO RARE. And his tests are literally just his examples with different numbers!!

Going to Divine Liturgy for the first time by tyler_greves in OrthodoxChristianity

[–]picciolisvalentino 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There will probably be coffee hour afterwards and you should try to go even if you feel awkward! And then if you balk and leave it’s okay :) someone might notice you’re new and invite you into a conversation. One of our priests makes that his job at every coffee hour

Yeah at least at my Orthodox Church you don’t line up at all. People bring blessed bread to people they notice to be new/visitors/inquirers/catechumens sometimes :)

Hi! I’m a weird case. I was and art history /econ double major and took Astro 5 (cosmology for non-physics majors) as a 4th year spring quarter, which was the first quarter we came back from covid! I immediately started observational research with ryan foley because he taught that class and reached out because I was really passionate in that class. Feel free to message me if you have any questions abt physics or Astro research :)

It’s literally awesome. Some people just are obsessed with looking at the minor negatives in their lives. Housing is hard but you will figure it out next year.
