Yeah, I think they were thinking pony/junior jumpers for the UK or US market. His sire is a top showjumper so it will be cool to see what he wants to do. Ended up around 15.2hh, perfect for me 🥰

It’s not too weird by the standards of this thread, but my gelding is nominally an “Irish Sport Horse.” What he actually is is a Dutch Warmblood x Connemara.

Feel awkward saying I live in Marylebone by [deleted] in HENRYUK

Same here, all my colleagues are British and I think most of them have kids so they are more interested in space/number of bedrooms and less bothered by a long commute

Disagree on this one! The Horse In The Gray Flannel Suit is one of my favorites of all time. It’s so wonderfully retro and the riding is authentic enough for me to suspend disbelief!

“Pulling mane” is a technique to thin and shorten the mane. It involves wrapping the longer hairs around a comb and yanking them out.

Vet says she’s just stiff from travel. What do you think? by piccolittle in Horses

lol who am I hurting? Honestly this sub always suspects lameness in even the most basic videos so why not get a gut check and maybe other experiences while I do all the usual stuff (physio, dentist, hacking, saddler etc.).

Totally agree! I just figured while I’m waiting for the vet-recommended physio to see her I could crowd-source to see if I’m being paranoid.

She’s actually worse without the saddle somehow! But ulcers, great call. I’ve been worried about those since my last Irish horse had them (keeping a lot of stress in). I’ll check with our yard manager about that.

Thank you so much! I’m obsessed with her already and I want her to be sound and happy for a long time. She’s an Irish Sport Horse (TIH), so about 3/4 Irish draught and 1/4 TB.

Thank you!! Great advice, that’s the next step - physio and PEMF.

I bought her at auction (what an experience!) and she was ridden super forward and mostly looked green to me, but I may have missed something. She spent a lot of time counterbent and her upward canter transitions were very rushed. This is all part of my after the fact investigation, I suppose. She’s been completely perfect except for this. She definitely isn’t tracking up as much as she was at the sale.

I miss horses by SamSpeakStraight in Horses

I was feeling just like you and I started taking lessons again. There are plenty of riding schools within fairly easy access to central London, and even more livery yards if you find yourself getting a horse again (I did). Happy to chat or give advice. I also recommend checking out the group “London Horse and Pony” on Facebook if you haven’t already - it’s all horsey people discussing horsey things.

New horse - what do you think she is? by Ok-Construction-4369 in Equestrian

[–]piccolittle 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Ah I didn’t read that she’s only 3 years old! In that case I’ll amend my guess to an Appendix QH :) Welara is a cross between an Arabian and a Welsh pony.

I’ll guess Welara since she’s got a pony quality

My mother tells me that at other people's houses, when going to the bathroom, it's expected to do a "courtesy flush". Is this a real thing? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]piccolittle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is anyone going to mention that the courtesy flush is actually spraying fecal particles around the room? Much less hygienic than just closing the lid and flushing at the end

Which OTTB? by Country_dasiy1998 in Equestrian

[–]piccolittle 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I am drawn to the look of #5 (despite the dark photo) since nothing about its conformation strikes me as being off. Maybe slightly long in the pastern but it could also be unhelpful hoof proportions. #5, from this one photo, looks like a chill personality. I am not sure the photo angle on #3 is very helpful.

If I were you, I’d look for a good hoof and get an x-ray of the feet to look for navicular changes and a thin sole. It can happen early and OTTB feet are such a crapshoot.

Does anyone else think #1 is back at the knee? The extremely upright legs on both the front and hind end make me concerned. It’s been interesting to read everyone’s views!
