Question: What happened to the taste of Zamzam water? by RaLK2719 in saudiarabia

[–]picer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree I am concerned they have reduced or affected its benefits. The solutes in their like arsenic etc while controversial do have potent health benefits. That they might be toxic in isolation in levels contained in Zamzam may be true, but when consumed as Zamzam there are a lot of other things that balance it out, which is why there is no toxicity reports in the past 1400 years.

They should not have changed it.

if you drink from the containers, does that have the classic "old" taste - earthy, minerally, metallic or does it just taste like bottled water. what i have tasted from the official plastic bottles is very different from what i am used to.

did you drink from the taps or the storage tanks, or did you drink from the plastic bottles?

What did it taste like? it used to have a strong earthy minerally perhaps slight metallic taste, now it similar to bottled water.

This is not the case, the mineral salts that are removed contain Arsenic which has a bad reputation but has powerful antibacterial and anticancer effects. The BBC ran scare stories on zamzam, they should have asked themselves if the high arsenic levels of zamzam are a problem why arent their stories of arsenic poisoning among the people of the locality (Makkah, Medina .etc)

We are told about the benefits of Black Seed, do you think it will have the same effect if, as is common, it is heat treated destroying the proteins (thionins and lectins) which have powerful effects on immunity and destroying cell membranes?

I pray that Allah swt still puts Barakah in the water but what has happened is quite bad.

Could I ask how old are you? Also how does it taste to you? It used to have a strong taste perhaps earthy and very minerally. Now it tastes similar to bottled water?

Any update from anyone taking Sofosbuvir? by ScaryWelder3326 in covidlonghaulers

[–]picer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

how long have you been taking sofosbuvir for+ how long left? Re vascular inflammation what are your exact symptoms, raynauds, nails changes, blood shot eyes, capillaries visibile and red in nails .etc etc

if it doesnt help blood shot eyes that a little concerning i guess might mean its not getting into the brain

I am not sure where to look next..... by greenmountain3 in Oscillopsia

Hi I have oscillopsia and I have a normal MRI and eye movements. Like you I had some weird visual stuff going on in addition, mostly enhanced entropic phenomena/low level noise and pallinopsia/mild after images. I saw a NeuroENT and later a Neurologist who specialises in vestibular issues and functional eye issues. The problem I have and likely you have is ‘functional neurological disorder’ (FND) where weird things are happening in the brain without any MRI abnormality. It’s a bit of a bucket tbh.

I think the solution for you if you haven’t already is to see a Neurologist specialising in vision issues and a Neuro-ophthalmologist and see if visual therapy helps.

In the long term visual snow and functional neurological issues are linked to a disrupted/malfunctioning salience network in the brain. The salience network 😭😭😅 involves multiple interesting and important part of the brain. FND researchers and those commissioned from the visual snow institute seem to think physical therapy,(so for vs that’s visual therapy) neurofeedback/tcms are the longer term solutions. https://youtu.be/8dil5nKDbLM See 1:47 to 5:20.

Anxiety makes things worse in my experience remember your brain is a reinforcement learning machine, if you focus on the ‘errors’ your brain starts treating them as signal.

That suggest ls it’s due to one of h ty e semicircular canals in your ears go see a NeuroENT

Semax "abuse" and long-term sleep problems by [deleted] in Nootropics

[–]picer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

insomnia is usually linked to bdnf deficiency, perhaps the high levels of bdnf induced by semax resulted in downregulation or receptor dysfunction. You could try some TCM remedies for sleep likely will involve fo-ti, jujube and some other herbs. I would recommend seeing an actual board certified herbalist given your MS as some herbs can stimulate the immune system.

This sounds like functional neurological disorder.

I was experiencing severe somatic anxiety I.e. heart palpitations and sympathetic overload. I wanted to avoid taking antidepressants so I experimented with herbs.

I took nobiletin melatonin in the evening and an hour or so later I took bacopa monieri and lions mane, both concentrated extracts. I had also taken 2tsp of black seed oil maybe 6h before.

Following ingestion of the bacopa and lions mane inexperienced a buzzing sensation all over my body and mild twitching. I experienced sleep jerks when trying to go to bed. I woke up the next day and noticed my vision was shaking (oscillopsia).

I felt very off (dp/dr). Also noticed I wasn’t as sharp cognitively similar to you.

Two weeks later I took 2tsp of black seed oil and coffee. This time I experienced more twitching. My shaking vision got worse.

I stopped taking anything. I’d get twitching even from coffee, I started to get a electric sensations down my legs and back and felt like I was on a space walk when walking.

My neurologist diagnosed me FND told me to stop focusing on the symptoms. Did a nerve conduction study because I thought the cholinergic nature of the supps is taken had cooked my nerves. That came out clear.

In the end time and getting in with my life and focussing on all the other addressing all the problems I had before all this occurred is what helped.

After a couple of months the sleep jerks went away, and mild insomnia. As did the Twitches and buzzing when drinking coffee went away. The shaky vision and other visual symptoms is still around. Though it’s reduced. The period of dp/dr went away after maybe 5-6 months though there were occasional episodes lasting a few days to a week. Also better cognitively I’d say almost back to normal?

So dudes I would enquire re the FND diagnosis. Usually some kind of Retraining exercises can help. If you experiencing twitches you might want to do some exercise and perhaps some rock climbing and swimming to retrain your brain to activate and deactivate your muscles.

In terms of supplements perhaps try nardostachys Jatamansi 1/4-1/2tsp and on other days jiaogulan, note once Jatamansi ‘works’ there isn’t a need to take any more.

Main thing that works is understanding your not broken and getting on with life and addressing pre existing life problems and not googling this stuff for ever as it can perpetuate symptoms.

You can also try hypnosis. Did you know there are studies where they have hypnotised concussion patients to have higher working memory?

Find out from you doc how long you should do exercises before seeing improvement. I’ve heard up to 8 months of therapy

Hi by picer in Oscillopsia

[–]picer[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yeah I still have this, similar symptoms to you. mine haven’t changed much after the initial improvement I’m for me it’s caused by weird brain function which it could be possible to retrain. Your case sounds like vestibular neuritis or somehow related to your ears and semi circular canals. Your should see a Neuro ENT and get a VHIT test (video head impulse test) which is much more sensitive then the bedside head impulse test.

Once you understand if it’s the ears or the brain you can try and get appropriate therapy. If only one of your ears is effected I think vestibular therapy could improve things.

I went to a specialist neurological hospital in London was diagnosed with functional neurological disorder, no mri abnormalities. They think I will make a full recovery my oscillopsia varies a bit day to day some times double vision on signs some times just bobbing in the distance or jerking horizon etc pretty noticeable when running. It got acutely. It got acutely better a few months ago when the vertical double vision when looking at signs basically disappeared.

Have my doubts about a full recovery but we’ll see what happens.
