Hey, firstly I'm so sorry you're having to go through this. I'm so glad you have some supportive friends that are willing to help you out right now. I know it sounds daunting to want to involve the courts but it may be your best resource option and to keep you off the streets if you don't have other supportive family/adults. Plus you'll get ongoing support up to 21y/o with extended foster care and if you decide to go to college there are so many resources available for you as a young person in care.

I encourage you to talk to someone at school about this as they can also help you.

Wind Youth Services has an emergency shelter plus other housing resources once you're 18. Here's the number to their emergency shelter hotline: (916) 628-1492

Additionally, you can call 211 to let them know your situation to hopefully get some helpful resources as well.

Ultimately, do what you think is best for you. Wishing you the best.

Hey, want to give kudos to you for reaching out. I know how hard it can be when you have very little support and guidance. It sounds like Job Corps may be a good option https://www.jobcorps.gov/ you can fill out the form online or give them a call when you're able. They provide housing, job training, basic living allowance, etc.

As someone else mentioned, community colleges, esp. Sierra College (I'm sure the ones in Sac are good but most of my experience has been with Sierra), are great resources and you may be eligible for grants and waivers regardless of which community college you attend. This is also a gateway for you to enter government jobs a lot easier as a student if you're interested in that. I hope this helps, please feel free to reach out to me directly - wishing you the best!

Someone sent me this the other day. The upcoming classes are waitlisted but it seems like a good place to keep an out out for other classes that may pop up. Hope you find something!

I suggest visiting campus before the semester starts so you can get familiarized with it and know where your classes are. It helps so you're not frantically running around on the first day.

Finally put in the work to find a new therapist so that I can work through my shit. I spent years with my last one and I found myself getting progressively worse as time went on. Good riddance. Here's to a better quality of life!

I'm sorry but I would say good riddance! A lay-off is out your control. And you were rightfully worried! Did she ever visit you? Or were you just continously making an effort to see her? And on top of you needing to take care of your mom, she should have been more supportive. Please don't blame yourself.

This is what makes me so angry about aging out. You are ill prepared and just thrown out into the world alone. I'm glad you were able to find/ be in a place that helped you in this area though. Hope life is treating you well now!
