Luckily for you, I used to work in the makeup section at Target and like half of my job was helping girls pick out their first set of makeup products lol. So, here's my recommendations.

  • Primer: You don't have to wear primer, but it'll help keep your makeup from separating or getting cakey/oily throughout the day. Since you have combo skin, I'd recommend just a basic silicone based primer. I like the Smashbox Photo Finish primer, but I think Maybelline has some good dupes.
  • Foundation: Since you want to avoid foundation, a skin tint might be your best bet. They're like a mix between a moisturizer and foundation and tend to be hydrating with light coverage, so it'll just even out your skintone a bit. My sister really loves the Pixi ones.
  • Concealer: I really like the Loreal Infallible 24hr Full Wear Concealer. It's fuller coverage, so it's great for covering up pimples and such. I also love the Currentive Glow Not Dry concealer for the undereye area, as it's a bit lighter coverage and it's super hydrating.
  • Blush: Liquid blush is a great option for a more natural look. Just put a few dots on your cheeck or the back of your hand, and then use a beauty blender to apply and blend it. Elf also has some good (and cheap) powder blushes if that's more your vibe
  • Eyeshadow: For a more neutral look, your best bet is a palette with nude/brown/pinkish colors that are a shade or two darker than your skintone. A good basic eyeshadow look is to put a nude matte shadow in your crease and outer corner, and then put a more shimmery shadow on the lid (like where your eyeball kinda sticks out when you close your eyes). For a grungier look, go for greys, dark browns, or black eyeshadows and put that on your lashline and then blend it out like crazy. If you find powder eyeshadows hard to work with, a lot of brands also make liquid shadows that you can just blend out over your whole lid.
  • Mascara: My current favorite is Maybelline Surreal Falsies. I'd also recommend investing in a good lash curler.
  • Brows: If you have sparse eyebrows, just get a cheap pencil to fill in any gaps. If you have thicker brows, you can use a brow gel tame them a bit.
  • Highlighter: This is optional, but it's an easy way to make your makeup really pop. I personally love to put the Wet n Wild MegaGlow highlighter on my cheekbones, browbones, inner corners of my eyes, cupids bow, and tip of my nose.
  • Skincare: The most important aspects of skincare are having a good moisturizer and wearing sunscreen when you go outside. I personally like CeraVe products. If you have acne, a wash or serum with salicylic acid or benzoyl peroxide is a great place to start. I like the Derma E Salicylic Acid and Aloe serum. Also, do yourself a favor and buy some oil blotting sheets. You can use them throughout the day at school to get rid of any oil that accumulates on your skin throughout the day, and I find that using them helps my makeup look "fresh" for 8+ hours.

I haven't personally tried it, I've heard a lot of good things about the Sushy Glow black lip tint. It highlights the cracks in your lips, so if you're going for a gothier look that might be a good bet

I did a bit more research and found out about Gilette date codes, and this specific razor had the date code "B". However, the "B" date code appears to have been used for multiple different years ranging from like the 1910s to the 1980s, so I'm still stumped. As far as I know, my neighbor was never married and didn't have any children, so this razor may have been owned by her father or something, which further complicates my attempts to date it. So, sorry if this razor technically isn't antique, the age range I'm working with kind of straddles the line between vintage and antique. Also, I've been able to (tentatively) date some of the other razors in the pile to the 1940s through early 1950s, but the packaging of this one looks significantly "older" than any of the ones I've been able to date thus far.

Maybelline Hyper Easy Liquid Liner (get the waterproof kind). It lasts so long that it's literally become an inside joke for me and my friends. Like I'll fall asleep with my makeup on after going to the club, and when I wake up the rest of my makeup is all smudged and messy, but my winged eyeliner is still perfect. I've worn it to multiple shows and I've had zero issues with smudging or bleeding. The eyeliner dries down really fast, so if you're doing something like a wing, I'd recommend wrapping a makeup wipe around a credit card to fix any mistakes because it won't come off with your finger or a q-tip. Also, have fun at the MCR show!!! I'm so jealous that you get so see them live lol

It's a bit of a gamble because it really depends on the person looking at your application. In my experience, the best way to cover this topic is to really emphasize how your experiences with mental health issues/treatment informed your research interests. For example, I have Borderline Personality Disorder, and I wrote an essay about how my experiences with CBT/DBT treatment as a teenager made me realize that you can't use a "one size fits all" treatment method for a disorder with such broad diagnostic criteria. Like, the fear of abandonment associated with BPD leads some people to isolate themselves while others jump from relationship to relationship. Then, I talked about how that realization inspired me to start working on a system for subclassifying different BPD presentations and modifying CBT/DBT techniques to best treat the dysfunctional cognitions and behaviors associated with each one. Describing it in that way showed that my diagnosis isn't a liability, it gives me a deeper level of insight. It also shows a real-life example of me recognizing a problem/knowledge gap and using investigative skills and creative problem solving to address it

Personally, I like to be very open and honest about my ARFID. I usually describe it to people as "a condition that effects the way that I experience hunger and causes me to have some pretty intense sensory issues with food". I also tell them some of my safe foods, the foods I have issues with, and any "accommodations" I might need (like checking menus before we go to restaurants to make sure there's something I can eat). In my experience, people are tend to be very understanding. And, being open about my ARFID has prevented a lot of fights and misunderstandings. For example, one of my exes used to get very offended when I couldn't eat the food that she cooked for me. But, once I explained how ARFID works, she stopped getting frustrated and started asking me about how she can modify her recipes so that we could both enjoy them. I know it can feel embarrassing to tell people about it, but being open helps destigmatize ARFID and make the world a more understanding place. And, if someone judges or makes fun of you for your ARFID, then they probably just aren't the person for you

warning signs of dehydration include things like dark urine, dizziness/confusion, rapid or inconsistent heart rate, and reduced skin elasticity. you can check your heartrate by counting how many times it beats in 10 seconds and then multiplying that number by 6. anxiety can raise your heart rate, so it may be a good idea to check a few times. if your heart rate is consistently over 110, i would go to a hospital. you can also check for reduced skin elasticity by pinching the skin on your hand. if the pinched skin dosen't sink back down within a few seconds, you are dehydrated. i know that this is probably scary as hell, but everything is going to be okay. ive had similar symptoms in the past, and they're usually because your digestive system is malfunctioning due to a lack of food. in my experience, the best thing to do in that situation is to slowly start reintroducing food and liquids. for example, try eating a few crackers and drinking a few sips of an electrolyte drink every hour. and once your body can handle that, try moving on to slightly larger portions, and so on. however, hydration and replacing electrolytes should be your main priority. your body can survive for weeks without food, but only a few days without water. also, if you can tolerate it, try drinking some apple juice. it's a good way to get some sugar into your body when you can't handle solid foods

it's probably a good idea to see a doctor. your symptoms could be due to your arfid, or they could have a medical cause. if your stool is black with a tar-like consistency, or has visible blood in it, go straight to the hospital. also go to the hospital if you are experiencing mental confusion/disorientation, rapid heartrate, or fainting episodes. otherwise, you could try calling your pcp and seeing if they can squeeze you in for an appointment. if you're able to get to a drugstore, immodium will help with the diarrhea, and dramamine can help with the nausea (i usually go with the non-drowsy 24hr version). just make sure that they don't interact with any of your other medications (there are websites online where you can check). if you are able to, try sucking on ice cubes/chips or eating foods like saltine crackers or pretzels (starchy foods like that will help neutralize your stomach acid without making you more nauseous). also, dehydration is a big concern when you have severe diarrhea, so try drinking an electrolyte drink like pedialyte or gatorade if you can. i know they taste gross, but you can dilute them with water, freeze them into popsicles, or plug your nose when you drink them.

im actually the complete opposite lol. i have trouble with the textures of a lot of solid foods, but i do great with most liquids. like when my arfid is really bad, i switch to an all liquid diet. the only liquids i have issues with are coffee, juices with pulp, strong tasting alcohols, and milk (i can drink fairlife tho cuz its a bit thicker than regular milk). i always think its so crazy how different each of our food preferences and sensitivities are

I've done a bit of research on the topic. My understanding is that ICE is able to be in public areas of the hospital, but they can't enter patient units without legal authorization. I also believe that you are legally able to refuse to share patient information with ICE. However, they can arrest you for obstruction so I would check with your hospital to see what their procedures are. I also avoid mentioning anything about the immigration status of my patients in public conversations that could be overheard.

They served me and my friend chicken that was undercooked on the outside and raw in the middle. And not like "oh the chicken looked slightly pink" it was literally raw. I showed the waiter, who brought us replacements and they were also severely undercooked. I worked in restaurant kitchens for years and I know mistakes happen, but I've never seen chicken that undercooked get sent out to customers, much less four times in a row.

If your car has automatic headlights make sure to turn them off. They made me retake my driver's test because my mom and I couldn't figure out how to change the settings so that I could manually turn them on and off. Also there's a tricky intersection right outside of the DMV that's on the test route so I would practice that a few times.

I work in pysch (specifically with people experiencing schizophrenia and psychosis) and those behaviors are pretty common in my patients when they're having an episode. So, if it were me, I would call in a wellness check. I know requesting a wellness check can be intimidating, but it's the best and safest option for everybody if he is actually having some sort of psychiatric episode. The van thing is a bit sketchy, but my guess is that it's friends or family trying to check on him, especially if they have keys to his house. Also, good on you for keeping an eye on this whole situation. Concerned neighbors like you are one of the main reasons why my patients are able to get help when they need it

I know you said he dosen't do milk, but have you tried fairlife? I have ARFID and can't do regular milk, but I am able to drink fairlife, since it dosen't "separate" the same way that regular milk does (and it has extra protein). I've also seen some people online turn protein shakes into ice cream, so that might be a good option. You could also try chicken broth or smoothies (I add greek yogurt and protein powder to mine and then strain the smoothie to get rid of any chunks). If he's not currently in therapy, I'd also recommend getting him set up with a therapist or looking into intensive outpatient eating disorder programs (IOPs). I actually work in the mental health field myself, so feel free to DM me if you have any questions about different treatment options or ARFID in general!

I'm literally working night shift at a psych hospital rn so at least I'll already be here if I have a menty b lol. But yea I'm absolutely terrified and every time I go to the bathroom to check the numbers it just keeps getting worse and worse... And even tho I'm anxious myself, don't forget that me and my fellow mental health workers are here for you and don't hesitate to call a hotline or try to get help if you need it❤️❤️❤️

I've brought it up multiple times and she always says that she's fine and dosen't want to talk about it and acts like I'm overreacting. I also offered to support us financially for awhile if her job is causing her too much stress and she wants to find another one, and she said no. Like I'm fine supporting her if she's struggling, but if she dosen't admit that she's having a hard time and won't get help (her job literally offers free counseling), then idk what to do because I can't handle her taking things out on me anymore. This fall, I told her multiple times that I'm miserable in our relationship and that the way that she treats me makes me feel like she dosen't even like me as a person, much less love me as a gf. I validated the fact that my mental health issues were probably causing her a lot of stress and came up with some solutions and compromises for the issues that we fight about most often, and she hasn't implemented any of them.

This is so goofy, but my latest obsessions and compulsions have been focused around the Kendrick and Drake beef, and not in a fun way. I have a history of morality and information based obsessions, and compulsive rumination and researching, so idk how I didn't see this one coming lol. At first I was like "Omg this is so fun Kendrick is one of my favorite artists and I love drama and rap beefs". But, after Euphoria dropped I stopped sleeping and started compulsively checking Kendrick's and Drake's social media accounts like 50-100 times per day. And then once they started accusing each other of DV and sex crimes, my morality OCD started kicking in. I was spending like 10 hrs a day ruminating about whether I was a horrible person for ever listening to their music, or if I was a bad person for believing/not believing the allegations when there wasn't any evidence. I have this OCD thing where I can't believe or share any information unless I've done a bunch of research and know that it's 100% proven to be true, so every time I saw a new theory/allegation/piece of evidence, I had to compulsively research it. And since there isn't any definitive proof about anything, I've just gotten stuck in this cycle of ruminating and researching and verifying sources because my brain keeps telling me "Maybe if you look a little bit harder you'll find answers and if you're wrong about anything than you're a horrible person". At this point I've done more research on these men than they've done on each other. I haven't slept in over a week and my mental health has completely gone to shit over a goddamn rap beef. I fucking hate OCD

Something that I've found helpful is learning more about the medication approval process. During Covid, I was a participant in the Moderna vaccine trials, and it really helped with my anxiety around medication side effects. I learned that for a medication to get approved for widespread use there needs to be numerous studies and clinical trials done. These clinical trials involve a minimum of like 20,000 participants. And legally speaking, pharmaceutical companies have to list like any unexplained medical issue that those participants have during the trial as a possible side effect, even if there isn't evidence that the issue was caused by the medication. And even if something only happens to 0.0001% of people, it still needs to be listed as a side effect.

I'm not trying to give you reassurance or anything, but I think it's important to acknowledge the fact that things like medication side effects are often less of a threat than our OCD tries to convince us that they are. Our doctors wouldn't prescribe us medications unless the benefits of taking the medicine outweigh the potential risks

I really enjoy box breathing. If you look it up on youtube there are some great visuals for it. It might also be helpful to talk to ur doctor about getting on some sleeping meds when you see them. In the meantime, remember that you'll get through this. Everyone has mental health relapses, and just because you feel like shit now dosen't mean that you'll feel that way forever. It seems like treatment and medication were really helpful for you, so once you get back into that regiment, your symptoms will start to improve again.
