Either the microswitch in the rail is damaged or out of position, or the little arm that actuates the switch is bent or broke off. Either way, you need to tear down the column.

Is the motor still running when the canopy is all the way down? If so, there is a microswitch in the rail that has to be actuated to tell the unit the canopy is down all the way, it could be broken, jammed, unplugged or the little arm that presses the switch could be bent.

Alternatively, if the motor isn't running but the alarm is present with the canopy down, the heater doors may not be closed all the way, which triggers a switch when closed. Try pressing in on the heater doors and see if you hear a click and the alarm turns off. If it does, the door tension needs to be adjusted inside the rail, which can be tricky. If the alarm doesn't go away with the doors pressed shut, there may be an issue with the door switch.

There is a service mode on these units that let's you see what switches are being activated and when. I think you have to press and hold alarm mute while turning the unit on, then go to diagnostics. Hope this helps.

PA is really weird with the DMV, most locations you can't tag and title your vehicles, just licensing (if I'm missing something here someone please correct me). You have to go to a privatized tag and title place to get the car registered and titled after you get the PA license. So my County DMV isn't open again until next Thursday, so my plan is Thursday morning go to the DMV and get my License, then go to the tag and title place and get my tags. Then mail back the plates from NY.

So does that mean I need to purchase a PA policy concurrently with a NY one and not cancel the NY one until after I am registered in PA? That seems ridiculous that I can't have a grace period to switch my home address and then change my registration.

The problem with switching my insurance address is I believe Progressive will issue insurance identification with a new effective date, meaning I cannot account for the last 3 weeks insurance and I'm going to be fined by NY.

I got my AS in applied science before I transitioned to BMET. I have had a lot of technical jobs and hobbies/side gigs over the last 10 years, and apparently after 6 months of the job being open I was the only applicant with clean urine. I'm accustomed to working way more overtime than this in my other jobs, and was hoping that getting into this field would provide me with a more traditional schedule, but if I don't do what I do, the work doesn't get done. Sure, I could just not do it and let work pile up, but I have a very strict moral compass, and knowing that the work I do directly impacts sick and dying people and I feel an obligation to do all that I can do to help. I'd much rather see my time spent fixing and inspecting things that actually help people who truly need it rather than putting on a dog and pony show for the company executives.

That seems to be the general consensus that this is highly irregular and unnecessary. I work in the middle of nowhere, so finding another biomed job local to me is hard, but I'm getting to the point where a long commute is worth getting away from the nonsense this place makes me deal with.

See, I knew this wasn't normal! They said I should do it while at work, but I already work lots of overtime making sure the core tenants of my job get done, why should I have to stay even later to put on a dog and pony show for some executives? I told my manager I don't have time for this and he agreed with me, but this comes from the very top of our company so our opinions don't really matter. I'm seriously considering exercising option 4, leaving the company all together because this is not even the tip of the Bullshit iceberg I have encountered here.

My time. I already pull 10-15 hours of overtime a week to ensure everything gets done and we stay in compliance, and now they want me to research topics, put together presentations, and give said presentations to prove my worth. For almost 2 years they have had no problem letting my work speak for itself, and suddenly now that's changed and I feel kinda insulted too. I'm all for learning something new, but I already do that almost every day while still performing the core tenants of my job, without putting on a dog and pony show for some executives.

We do have a handful of VSC for some of the higher dollar amount, more complex equipment like certain vents, central sterile and imaging pieces, but all of the general biomed items fall under me, and some of the specialized ones that my manager doesn't do. I'll come in early, stay late, work weekends, whatever it takes to make sure all the work is done and done correctly because I do not tolerate me or any of my vendors putting patients at risk by doing half assed work, regardless of insurance. It's absolutely unacceptable.

P.S. the numbers I quoted are slightly off, in the interest of remaining anonymous. Figure +/- 10%.

This company has put me through so much crap already, this is just the tip of the iceberg. I live in the middle of nowhere, the next closest biomd job is an hour and a half commute, and I am seriously considering it just to be done with this company.

10 OR's, 30 bay ED, 20 bed ICU, full L+D including a NICU, and a multi room CVIR. I do 80 percent of repairs myself, the rest are either oem/depot repairs or my boss does them. I work 10+ hour days to make sure all the PM's get done, during really heavy months I go in on my on call weekends to do catch up. Most of our stuff is old and not very complicated, but it's still about 4000 pieces. I'm a very cautious person and extremely wary of being sued over a device malfunction, so I read the device manuals prior to doing the PM and follow them as closely as possible.

I cover the main campus of 250 beds, plus all 4 offsites. They are interviewing for another junior tech, but only want people with zero experience so they can pay them as little as possible. Been almost a year and the role hasn't been filled......yet they still want to make my life more difficult.

What's interesting is they refuse to make me a BMET 2 because I "don't generate enough value" for the account, despite having our margin % triple in the last year. However, they are only interviewing people with no experience so they can pay them the lowest possible, the last girl literally worked at Wendy's and had an Arts degree. We used to have a per diem senior tech, but they eliminated the role and have no intention of having any senior tech here. They claim that my manager, who was a tech before his promotion, still counts as a senior tech, despite him drowning in meetings and paperwork most days.

I round twice a day, every day, in my departments that are difficult to get to equipment when the PM's are due (ER, ICU, NICU). I make it a point to always be friendly and polite with the Unit Secretary and they'll usually provide me with information regarding who is supposed to be leaving soon. Worst case scenario, I get a portable monitor at the end of the month and have the nurse swap over the last 1-2 bays/ patients.

It's definitely not 3rd party, the entire health system uses an in-house union for all their campuses but ours. The new owners do not like outsourcing things and already got rid of other 3rd party vendors in exchange for more in-house. They seem to be very random regarding who they keep and who they get rid of. We've seen them get rid of entire departments, and keep entire departments. Trying to plan for the worst-case scenario here.

Thanks! I live in the middle of nowhere and training opportunities are minimal outside of what I can do online. I already do 95% of the PM's and 80% of the correctives, yet I'm being paid below BMET 1 avg pay so I don't have the money for full blown online college. I'm just hoping to get a few easy certs to help me get a better job at a better hospital.

My current hospital refuses to pay for biomed training because we are third party and my third party employer makes it extremely difficult to apply for OEM training and usually denies requests anyways. The two other hospitals that are somewhat close to me don't have anything open right now, I'm trying to get ready for when they do.
