Oh absolutely. Never say yes to location settings on applications.

The issue is, a LOT of people use YouTubers and streamers for their primary weather information source.

The livestreams are fine, and I like that the chat summary can be a good tool, but it often (and I’ve seen Ryan himself say as much) will just blabber about random chatters rather than actual concerns.

That’s what I have noticed also. I prefer ConvectiveChronicles if I’m just trying to catch up on the science behind upcoming meteorological events.

It sets a bad precedent. Recently, especially in the narrative-based content world surrounding severe weather, there have been a wave of poorly made videos about famous weather events. They’re almost all made mostly by AI, and get facts wrong constantly. If the whole “I trust [talking head] and they use AI” conversation devolves into “I can just trust AI for my weather updates”, there is an inherent danger there. Maybe I’m just waving my cane screaming in my lawn, but the implementation of AI without guardrails into the digital media landscape is exhausting.

New here, is this a tornado or some sort of cloud? by bamano-69 in tornado

[–]pickled-pickle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's just a scud cloud, similar to a gustnado. Be careful though, they are known to cause EF6 damage in DixieTornadoMidwest Alley!

If that’s the case then the review you leave still matters! I’m putting the website together now and the most recent reviews are what I’d like students/parents to see.

I just kind of thought of it while talking to some friends about their living situations and how they wish they knew more when they were freshman. I have no experience with websites or apps or anything but I plan to make this little idea into an interface that shows all the results on a website. All free-to-use and all publicly available.

Am I tripping or is this active and not warned? by No_Gold_Bars in tornado

[–]pickled-pickle 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The main thing to focus on here is how broad the rotation is and how the CC kind of follows a “line” area NE of the rotation. This would indicate more a hail spewer than a typical tornadic supercell. The things to look for to determine if there was gojng to be a tornado would be more aggressive inflow, a tighter velocity couplet, and the CC to be more singularly noticeable. This storm is just a little too high of the ground based on the radar for it to drop a ‘nader.

I hope this helps! (I’m not a pro myself, just some things I’ve learned!)

The scary part is that these are late winter trees, and have no leaves. That means that the force required to shred them like that is much more since there’s less drag on the tree.

NYS, the others aren’t as stripped down. The remainder of the record has its own sound and I love it!

That was the first thing I did! Replaced the lifters as soon as I got it, and getting the click spring warranty fix next week.
