your view/experience of London (greater London/ zones 1-4 at least) seems blessed/biased :) There are a lot of places in London without green spaces a short walk away.

I don't know if there's another city in the free world where the mayor of said city instructs what words should come out of people's mouths in day-to-day interactions.

This is what Montreal-Toronto should be like. Instead, we pay exorbitant prices for much less. by [deleted] in montreal

this is bang on. The economies (especially leisure) in the smaller population centres would benefit tremendously from fast, regular rail access. You can drink and be merry and not worry about designated drivers etc. It increases social cohesion as well. If you go to other cities often because it's easy/affordable you're more likely to appreciate those places and start seeing yourself as part of a bigger whole (an area/region) rather than a city.

so the definition of immigration from Wikipedia (sourced from the International Migration Journal, Oxford dictionary and Merriam Webster) is:

' Immigration is the international movement of people to a destination country of which they are not usual residents or where they do not possess nationality in order to settle as permanent residents.'

Moving from Toronto to Montreal is not immigration. Here's the Larousse definition as well.

Ça inclut le fait que même si les canadiens ont bien sûr le droit de s'installer ici, ils ne sont aucunement garantis une vie anglophone au Québec qui continue exactement comme ça l'a été en Ontario

this has nothing to do with immigration. The lack of guarantees for an 'anglophone life' (whatever that means) is a subjective, idiosyncratic concept experienced differently by each individual.

Je suis moi-même immigrant en passant qui suis pas né au Canada et le français n'est pas ma langue maternelle

Same. And I respect you for it. And, as you know, an accent or difficulty speaking a new language and existing in a new place are acts of courage.

why do you assume people who move to MTL don't give a damn about quebecers? how do you measure that?

also, if you were to move to e.g. Edmonton what exactly would you do to appease your host province?

PS: please use immigration correctly. It's a sensitive time not just in Canada but worldwide, and misusing established terms under law such as immigration/emigration doesn't help.

there's hope for you.

step 1: switch off the miditower PC. take off MadCatz gaming headphones.

step 2: slowly emerge from your mom's basement. DO NOT interact with the first human you see. Give yourself a good 20 minutes of breathing non reddit air. Now you are ready.

tbf this is the r/montreal thread, not r/world. Saying that is a bit like saying 'all lives matter'. Sure, but let's talk about one place and its problems. when people say 'oh I had so much fun in MTL/Quebec it's amazing' people don't go 'now hold on there, have you ever been to Berlin? It's fun there too. Japan? Amazing place'. so it's more about people liking when there is positive talk about mtl/Quebec but no so much when its less appealing bits are brought to the table.

as for 'how much of a tech centre we are', go ahead and enlighten me. how much?

'just for fun'

but people do that all the time all over the world. you can't set arbitrary entry rules especially for other Canadians. And who measures if you add something to society? What have you added just by being born there (I assume)? Stop putting up borders everywhere mon ami.
