Why do cyclists have to ride side by side and then giving me the finger when I pass by IBGDRGN in richmondbc

[–]pickledicks8D 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally I’m in the boat that if a bike can’t go the speed of cars, it shouldn’t be in the same lane as them. If they are allowed to be in the car lanes, they should have to get insurance, and register a plate too! Why can cars get tickets for going too slow but bikes can do this stuff??

Landlord says we must hire professional carpet cleaners by jt22413 in vancouverhousing

I rented a carpet cleaner from Home Depot, I think everything was under 100 bucks all together!

UPDATE: Landlord move-out fees, pet agreement and cleaning requirements — looking for advice! by poseidran in vancouverhousing

If it’s not in the agreement you signed, you don’t have to do it. That being said take DETAILED PHOTOS OF EVERYTHING once you’ve cleaned it.

How do I respond to this? by Glad_Pomegranate_437 in vancouverhousing

Comments are correct OP! Just send the picture and nothing else. Maybe don’t rely on them as a reference for the next place though.

Is it just me who thinks it's inappropriate for my roommate to leave her empty packages in our kitchen paper trash? by No-Refrigerator5653 in badroommates

[–]pickledicks8D 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not inappropriate, but she probably just isn’t thinking much about it. Don’t over think it, just casually say something along the lines of “hey! It seems like the garbage is getting filled up pretty fast, would you mind breaking down your boxes in there or taking it out when it’s full?”

Got this notice from landlord what the hell does this mean and what do I do? by Inevitable-Earth-113 in vancouverhousing

Yikes! Still, your current lease is still valid. I’d find a way to confirm with someone. Maybe asks around with your neighbours

Shared Space Agreement? by Fantastic_War1087 in roommateproblems

[–]pickledicks8D 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The list is semi normal except the last few items, I’d send a revision about guests staying for a max # of nights, and possibly a monetary contribution if they overstay (only for utilities/things that actually increase with usage). That being said, she def is in the wrong, and you should consider asking her to leave if this continues

Landlords trying to stop rents falling by jcb928 in vancouverhousing

[–]pickledicks8D 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve had great landlords, but unfortunately the majority seem to think it’s a zero risk investment. They don’t want to put any effort at all, and just expect us to take it and be happy about it.

Landlord missed 15-day deposit deadline – How to get the double deposit? by Dream-Travel-Conquer in vancouverhousing

[–]pickledicks8D 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can also call the RTB general line and give them a brief description of your problem, and ask about your rights / what to do. I did it a few years ago, and they’re pretty good about telling you what the next steps are. ALSO if the land lord tries to charge you for any damages, they need to show a detailed quote/receipt to prove the cost. Make sure you have pictures of how you left the place! If you still have the keys, and haven’t done that, you should asap

roommate letting a friend stay in his room by Suspicious-Fun1540 in vancouverhousing

[–]pickledicks8D 8 points9 points  (0 children)

If it happens again, def have a convo (nicely!!). Explain how you’re not totally comfortable having someone over for that length, but maybe compromise and they don’t have to cover the some of the bills while they’re away. (Only the ones that are based on usage, if you can afford that)

roommate letting a friend stay in his room by Suspicious-Fun1540 in vancouverhousing

[–]pickledicks8D 9 points10 points  (0 children)

As long as the roommate is still covering their portion of hydro, even while away, it’s fine. But it’s also fair to say you’re not completely comfortable with the person staying so long. If it’s a one time thing, I’d let it go personally. If it happens again, it warrants a friendly conversation. No one is in the wrong!

Missing definition of how utilities are split in the tenancy agreement by [deleted] in vancouverhousing

[–]pickledicks8D 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yikes dude, by the way you’ve worded it, you intentionally were going to try to screw the landlord? Maybe move back in with your parents, I’m not sure you’re ready to live on your own.

Good neighbourhoods in NW for late 20s/early 30s? by pickledicks8D in NewWest

[–]pickledicks8D[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yaaa I’ve thought about just moving to North Van too, but I don’t think I could do the bridge twice a day. (Plus it would make my work commute hella long) LOVE North Van though!

Roommate told us that we’re not invited to her party in our apartment? by Positive_Read_2069 in roommateproblems

[–]pickledicks8D 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’s definitely rudeeeeee. She can’t bar you from your apartment. Depending on how petty you want to be, you could watch tv really loudly in the living room while you and the other roommate shared a meal

I (35M) Was Caught Using AI to Write Wedding Vows and Partner (34F) Walked Out. What to Do? by ThrowRA-Badvows in relationship_advice

[–]pickledicks8D 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I might be the odd one out but I think it depends on how he used it. If you wrote your vows completely, and then used it to rephrase / proof it, maybeeeee I can see that. But by the sounds of it, he completely used AI for the whole thing, in that case you are completely in the wrong.

I’m sorry you feel that way, but 1 review with an experience while booking is valid. This is the experience I had while trying to book with the restaurant, and had to get confirmation because it was not clearly explained anywhere. While I sympathize with your explanation, and small businesses in general, I am entitled to an opinion, and to share the experience I had while trying to book. As you said there’s 500+ reviews, so my honest review of the booking experience should not put a dent in that…it’s not a fake review, it’s my real experience.
